    You can always bring your own metal straws. Note that this is just plastic straws there are also paper straws that businesses can switch to

    Why do people need straws to drink? They are absolutely not necessary for consuming liquid. More convenient, maybe, but not essential.

    It is about time we return containers and bottles to stores and collection places. Wash and re use them (Placing in a curb side bin to be picked up and cleaned) Like returning milk bottles in the days past. I think it is about time takeaway places make bins at stores to collect containers)

    Lol.... interesting, the majority are hypocrites, plastic straws and 90% of all plastic products floating in the Pacific are made in Huhtamaki CHINA .... from bitumen crude oil !

    What SD said, plus is it going to be applied to everyone or they will start giving exemptions? Is Starbucks going to replaced their beloved cups? Think about the scale

    If the city is as competent at enforcing this latest prohibition, as they are with bike helmets, dog leashing and car idling, then no one need worry. What is not permitted is forbidden.

    You can’t just ban something without first having an alternate plan to replace these products.
