Have you thought about seeing a therapist since the Trump election?

I was in therapy time help me process my divorce. I started in the spring of 2016 but by November 2016, half of all my sessions have been about Trump and his administration. I also started taking anti-anxiety meds to help my increased and acute stress and anxiety. I've been on edge and easily triggered by every thing since Trump.

I have my first appointment this Saturday! I feel like I've been on edge since November 2016. When you add in my divorce and the death of my UncleDad in the past year I went from 'wanting' to see a therapist to 'needing' to see a therapist. Even when I'm taking a break from my family shit and hanging with friends, it's common for 45's antics to come up in conversation and I feel like I can't get away from the negative.

I've been so angry since the election that I started to feel small at my own thoughts. I had to stop listening to 45 speak because all I could think is if he were dead I wouldn't have to hear him and the b.s. but that won't really help because his VP is worse and the line of succession is complete trash. I'm still angry and I think we should all be angry: our country is stealing kids, reversing years of progress, and becoming international pariahs. All because we had a Black president and were about to have a woman president. I need the therapy so I can be open and present for the people I actually care about. Finally a hardy F U to the 53%, the "straight, white, male", and the "I'm voting 3rd party to show them" people.
