Daily Poll: Would you support government-run buses for remote areas of B.C. that relied on Greyhound?

Also, it's not only remote areas that will suffer from Greyhound's withdrawal (unless one has a rather peculiar idea about what is "remote"). All parts of Canada are affected when Greyhound, supplier of both passenger and freight transport, stops service. Saskatchewan had it own Sask Transportation Company, which the provincial government essentially gave away recently. I don't support government give-aways to corporations when a fully-integrated public transportation system is the only workable solution.

Canada and the provinces need a fully integrated, well-articulated, reasonably priced passenger transport system (ground-air-water), publicly planned, organized, funded and operated by government (perhaps at arm's length?). Our economy suffers from lack of passenger transport in many ways - people can't get to work, education, health services, holidays, visit relatives and friends unless they can access a (polluting and costly) vehicle.

Stop all government subsidies. Your business must stand alone. This mindset of "go to the taxppayer" has got to change. Government needs not to get invloved in any business using our money. Libs and trans mountain. They got sucked in by people who know how to make business work on its own two feet. What bloody fools, again, with our money.

I think this is going to be a good opportunity that is far overdue for a decent bus service in this province. Good riddance to Greyhound.

Sometimes I wonder if people understand that we are the revenue source for government. Whenever you hear Government subsidized, what you should hear is taxpayer subsidized. Whenever the government says free , what you should hear is taxpayer funded. Whenever a group asks for more money from the government, what they saying is collect more taxes or take it from someone else.

Private companies have already been taking over many routes and doing a adequate job. All of Vancouver Island is a prime example of how it can work without any interruptions.
