The old sign has charm and is unique unlike the boring, sterile looking new sign with zero uniqueness to it. Come on, someone can do better than this, it looks like a generic design 101 class grad came up with this!

I luv the look of the old sign.... It's charming, just like Woodway! ????????????

I LOVE the ferry on the old sign. Can we just remake it exactly as is only with more durable materials?

Just update the current sign. I travel to different cities in this state. Each city has something different with its on character. Let's have a Edmonds kind of sign.

Take the $40,000 and replicate the old sign in durable metal. You could go with the blue and white theme. But don't change the character of this charming, unique sign which defines our charming and unique town!

Marcia hits the nail on the head. For many people, the fact that Edmonds is not like so many other towns with the exact same franchise stores in buildings that look the same no matter where you are. And Edmonds exists because of the trees which were harvested here and sent by water to build Seattle and the surrounding area. What could be more appropriate than a wooden sign which depicts the water?
We don't need a generic sign because we are not a generic place.

The proposed new sign is totally generic. It has no character and says nothing about the feeling of our community.

I voted for the new signage because I think there does need to be an updated sign, however, the new sign does not say welcome and it was hard to read the downtown above Edmonds. There was too much empty white space. Is the design suppose to be a ship? Personally, I think the design is a bit too modern for how we are promoting our city. We are a city of flowers, the ferry and our beaches. So, yes an updated sign, but not the one proposed. Possibly take the old sign and update the colors to blue and white.
