With all due respect, cats are NOT human beings (thank God!). They are beautiful all of the time - also funny, scary (sometimes), and self-possessed. To dress them up for any reason demeans their inherent beauty and dignity. I can't stand to see ANY animals wearing clothes.

I do agree with Marion Forde to a point. I do agree that cats are not small children or dolls to dress up like such, but there are a few cats that actually enjoy "wearing clothes". Out of many many cats we've had the pleasure to have in our family, we've only had one that actually wanted to be "dressed". She will wear a sweater and hood in the winter, and she loves it. It won't take much to dress her in a costume, but I'm not into that sore of thing myself. Only dress your cat if your cat actually likes it; don't force them to wear anything if they hate it.

Dr.Jon,
I am very surprised and disappointed to see you encouraging the dressing up of cats, cats are not dolls or small children to be dressed for their own or others amusement, they are very dignified animals and having lived with them for 40 years or more I know them pretty well and know how much they hate this messing. please stop those suggestions and leave them as they , they have a grace and beauty that need no embellishments.
