If you NEED to carry that many fellow workers, get a passenger van! Many of us buy a pickup to carry tools and/or building materials. The extended cab is a perfect mix of both worlds. Some items you don't want to keep in the truckbed (weather, security, etc.), so that extra, protected, space INSIDE the cab is priceless. The rear-opening doors just add to the convenience. SOMEONE came up with that ingenious idea, why throw away the best upgrade the pickup industry ever saw?!?

2002 Silverado LT. Love my truck, but it is getting worn. Shopping for a newer one. A friend has a newer crew cab, and he would have bought the extended cab, if it were available. Doors are a real pain to work around. Always in the way. I keep several items in the truck at all times and love the ability to shift tools and boxes from front rear to rear passenger and vise versa. I carry a six foot level on the passenger side, it won't fit in the crew cab. Why would GM quit making a configuration that works so well. I hate to switch brands, but I may not have a choice.

I love my 2008 Chevy Silverado extended cab bought new upon my return from deployment to the Middle East. GM graciously offered me a great deal. I have an 85 pound golden retriever who requires help getting in and out. The extended cab allows me pick her up into the truck without door in my way.
It also allows you to slide long items like a flat screen TV in back either with or without the back seat up or down. On occasion I need my table saw, compound saw, that I would not leave exposed in the bed, and they can fit flat.
I'm looking to replace my truck in 4 years when I receive my first retirement check from the Navy.
I sure hope you offer it by then.

I have a 2004 Silverado and these doors are great. When moving items from front to back or vs versa its easy and fast..NO having to always walk around a door from front to back. In tight confines, like a garage working inside the cab it is so simple and efficient. Not to mention, you can surprisingly get really large objects inside the truck when its raining or for security. Had hoped and waited GM would bring them back but they haven't and instead decided to mimic the competition. Kinda odd...Ford started to use the suicide door on their trucks when GM quit. If GM would bring this door style back with the fancy tailgate it would be a hot seller. Not everybody wants a crew-cab and short bed.
Now its 2020 and I need to trade and will be buying a Ford this time simply because that is how useful these doors are that great.

I have always liked GMC and now that my children are grown I have no use for a crew cab style yet I still have need for a pick up. I am now forced to buy Ford, Toyota or Ram in order to get the extended cab.

I prefer the extended cab configuration. I have a 2004 C-1500 Silverado, bought new. The rear opening is quite functional with rear seat up or down. Easy access for occasional passengers or cargo that I choose to transport in cab rather than the bed.
