Have you accidentally turned on your flashlight from the iPhone Lock screen?

This has happened to me a ton of times! Weird thing is, it never happened on my iPhone X - only on my XS. My behavior with my phone has not changed significantly. Definitely happens to me a few times a week or so.

One thing I also noticed, is that Siri will now respond in my pocket. I think they messed with the proximity sensor in a recent update - the screen did not used to turn on at ALL in your pocket, which prevented these kinds of things from happening at all.

Just change the sensitivity of 3D Touch from medium to firm or you have the option of turning off tap to wake and or raise to wake. So your leg is not attempting to unlock your phone. This should alleviate this problem completely.

This have never occurred with me at all. I’ve put the phone in my pocket, etc. In fact, when I need to use it, I deliberately have to hard press. Otherwise, it’s perfectly fine. Zero issues with anything on the device.

How about they just steal another JB feature (from Activator) and use a short hold on power button to enable flashlight when screen is off or on lockscreen?... Funny how they always claim to innovate (maybe 10yrs ago). I have same feature on my Android and it's wonderful, never have I found my flashlight on in my pocket nor do I have to even touch the screen to turn it on. Anyways enjoy your $1000 sandboxed device with no control and keep feeding a crap company your hard earned dollars so you can "look" like you have the latest and greatest.

I don’t normally have a flashlight issue. I more often than not take a screen shot when I go to turn my phone off tho

I ave had this happen but more often, when I try to bring on my flashlight, my phone goes to the screen where I control the flashlight brightness. I find this really annoying!

So frustrating!!! I just googled this the other day and did not find any info. Now it’s on Google home page. Apple send a fix for this. I always keep my iPhone on my leftside or left pocket. When I grab for my phone , my thumb hits the buttonright in corner. Lost 30% battery one day. F

Not sure how this is possible. I have to give a pretty firm press to turn the flashlight on. It’s definitely not something I can “accidentally” do.
Actually I’d say it’s a little too difficult to activate the flashlight when I need it.

This happens to me as I’m putting my phone into my pocket. My hands are big-enough that (as I grip my phone tightly to slide it into my front-right skinny-jeans pocket) with my thumb on the lock button, the tip of my pinkie finger wraps all the way around the phone to exactly where the flashlight button is. At that point, the simple factor of holding my phone carefully (to ensure it goes into my pocket and not onto the ground) can occasionally cause my pinkie finger to triger the flashlight. Unfortunately, this results in a beacon drawing attention to my crotch and makes me feel like an idiot as my battery wastes away. ????????‍♂️

Just switch from android a few months ago. Significantly harder to accidentally turn it on with apple. Android always accidentally had it on

I don’t understand how you can accidentally turn on your flashlight, I have a hard time turning it on, when I try to turn it on, sometimes I end up swiping the phone open so I don’t understand how y’all are accidentally turning it on...smh

Frustrating that Apple doesn’t provide a way to disable this feature or to remove the flashlight from the lock screen.

If you have raise to wake on and the pressure for force touch on low, this is extremely easy to do when removing it from your pocket (or even in your pocket if you keep your hands there)

  • Toniel Sagun - 5 years ago

No. Just off the "I'm not sure if this "Awake" just off only to nit disturb. Good use the phone x ever for me
