Teams aren’t playoff contenders until there are playoffs to contend.
Clearly there are some strong carryover teams from last year as well as teams that “won the offseason” but there’s also a reason someone coined the expression “Games aren’t played on paper”.
Some team that’s already guaranteed by week 1 to sweep into the playoffs won’t make it and there will be at least one team that came out of nowhere to displace them.
