Hi all. I have recently purchased an iPhone 11 for work and on my first few runs I noticed that the distance was very different from what I’m used to. I’ve compared it to my old phone and Apple Watch and known 5K distances. The iPhone 11 is very poor and always wrong.

But today I noticed something very interesting and I’m looking for your thoughts on the following.

When running off road like in parks etc it seems to be at least 40 m out per 1K but when I was tracking the road and running alongside the road it seem to be very accurate. On my 10K run today the first 1K was off-road and it was 40 m out and then had the next 7K was by a road and it matched all the way down and the final 2K again where it was off road and it ran behind again. I had an old phone and my new iPhone 11 with me and compared the two.

Could this be an offroad issue?

I recently replaced my iPhone7 by an iPhone11. Now, GPS fails heavily. Running tracks (with Polar Flow) are not smooth, even with some steps backwards (what I'm sure about I didn't do).
I hope there will be a software fix soon. This way it's useless.

I just switched to an iPhone 11 from iPhone 6. The GPS on the iPhone 11 is off, on Strava my 10k run comes out as 10.4k. Looking at the run, it is all jagged, not smooth. Terrible by Apple, considering the price for this phone.

I purchased my IPhone 11 late fall. Nothing but trouble with the gps.

See rap times back country skiiing it flat out failed. Now that I’m biking the miles seem accurate but the vertical feet is double to triple what it should be on Strava. I’m super disappointed. These phones are outrageously expensive. It’s criminal when their features don’t work!

iphone 6, 7 using different apps while running the same 4 mile loop have said the same thing, then I get the iphone 11 and it says my 4 mile loop is 4.12 miles!! it doesn't matter what app I use - it is definitely the iphone 11 gps doesn't track as well!!!!

I have a iPhone 11. I take the same route walking all the time. It’s 3.9 miles. But every time I walk it now my phone says I went 2.8.
I’ve checked this with my car and my old iPhone 5s said it was 3.9.
I guess newer isn’t always better.

Yes I have issues with my 11 tracking my distance too slow. I run 3 miles and it’s off by about .2. My last 8 did the exact same thing. All my iPhones before 8 were fine. The 8 and 11 are horrible with accurate tracking. My sister has the 10xr and has the same issues. Very frustrating.

I switched from an iPhone 7 to the 11, and the GPS accuracy is horrible. Disappointing!

New iPhone 11 GPS is a complete waste of time if you rely on it for fitness tracking via Strava. I’ve run direct comparisons with my old iPhone 6s running same software and it will be out by as much as 100m over a kilometre.

It also does not provide accurate speed tracking via GPS through a cycle computer either.

I have problems with all navigation apps on the iPhone 11. Directions continually change causing me to drive in circles.

Really dislike the iphone 11 and using ANY navigation app but especially Waze. Nothing but problems. Did not encounter any of these issues with previous iPhones. I was also talked into switching from Verizon (after 26 years of cell service) to AT&T and REALLY wishing I was still with Verizon.
Apple you need to fix your IOS system to work with all apps this is ridiculous.
And Verizon, when this contract is up with AT&T I’ll be back!!!

I went to apple centre to make a unit replacement. Turns out they just replaced the motion sensor only and the problem still persist! I mean their QC really like shit nowadays

iPhone X with latest iOS update... it’s happening like crazy. Can’t use any app that requires gps. I have to scroll the map because my phone doesn’t know where I am...
