Who would you trust to do coronavirus contact-tracing?

I would trust the EU, with its strong data protection regulations, to develop a location tracking app that has sufficient privacy safeguards. As a UK citizen, I would trust the UK government as well, because EU data protection laws apply here too.

I would probably trust Apple. But Google, Facebook, Amazon, or any other service that makes its money primarily by selling people’s data? No way.

Isn't this story a bit early? Shouldn't it have been released on April 1

Why would you lump Apple in with Google. You can't be serious. I would vote Apple all day long before Google and the government.

Still would be concerned with the government finding some way to seize the data regardless. The only real way to get a handle on it is test everyone and find the manpower to do so. Still would have the same information that way so either way privacy is toast.

    Only Apple. Not Google

I’d only trust Apple of the choices.

It would be an unacceptable incursion on constitutionally guaranteed rights. Are you people who find this acceptable, and are just arguing over who should do it, blind? Do you understand what freedom is and how many have given their lives to protect ours? And now you want to just toss that on the garbage pile. Totally unacceptable and who does it has no relevance whatsoever.

Apple, by itself — walled off from Google — I would trust. But Google, where me and my data are the product, no way. Only thing worse than Google would be FaceCrook!

They have both shown they can’t be trusted with our data and why would people want to move closer to becoming like China
