As an attorney, I can say that Mr. Stevens is going to have an uphill battle. He needs to be thinking about sentencing. He also needs to be thinking about a Presidential Pardon, which is his best bet.
At this point, I would say that he should do what ever George W. Bush wants him to do. He can't depend on McCain being elected, nor on an Obama pardon. If W says resign, he should resign if it will help with a pardon. If not, hang in there because his name will surely be on the list.
