The city of Tempe should have never put an RFP out for that 46 acres if they were going to play and potentially reject the only offer they got on it. If they wanted more tech companies on that tract their RFP should have specified. Their failure shouldn't cost us the Coyotes. Typical breaucratic BS.

The State of Arizona owns the Veterans Memorial Coliseum and Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers was an influential state legislator, and can influencecurrent legislators to reject the Coyotes arena use. The Diamondbacks have complained that Chase Field is too large for Baseball and the logistics of keeping Chase Field cool enough for hockey early and late in the season when temperatures soar past 100 degrees. Tempe staff hasn't returned a staff report yet, but it will probably punch holes in the Coyotes plan. The proposed entertainment district will compete with Mill Avenue and Tempe Marketplace. Tempe will have to relocate it's maintenance and storage facilities and remediate the site, probably at a cost exceeding $100 million. Scottsdale is no fan of the Coyotes after lengthy negotiations for the Coyotes to relocate to Los Arcos 20 years ago. Again the entertainment district will compete with Old Town Scottsdale, giving Scottsdale more reasons to oppose the arena. Phoenix owns the Footprint Center, and recently completed a $200 million renovation, and clearly doesn't want a third arena in the Phoenix area. Tempe clearly has intentions to attract more tech companies to the area, and doesn't want to pass off neighboring cities like Glendale, Phoenix and Scottsdale. The Coyotes are playing their final season in the desert.

We could easily support them in Hartford as we had over 11k season ticket holders our last season and the XL center holds over 15k but without an arena plan in place ready to go Hartford is just a pipe dream. I hope Coyote fans don't go through what we did Hartford and they can figure it out. If they ever were to move I hope they go to a traditional market that will support them wether their in first place or last.
