Our league is 12 years old and we have been fortunate to not have any owner turnover. We FULLY understand the crapshoot that is week 17, but we enjoy utilizing all 17 weeks of the NFL regular season. Over the years, becuase we are only dealing with the final two teams, you would be surprised at actually how few players are effected by coaches decisions. We have numerous votes on league rules each summer, but nobody has ever made a motion for a 16 week league. And yes, we do play for money, as the prize pool is $1,000.
I'm in a cumulative league, and week 17 actually makes for an interesting and fun week... Lots of whacky trades due to category needs and starters sitting... Conceivably something like LT for Ed Reed becomes a good trade for both teams if the LT owner doesn't need rushing, but could hope for a pick or two... Obviously this trade would never be made during week 5. I would hate to be in a head to head league with the finals set up in week 17.
