Taking Marlena and John out of "Days of our Lives" is like taking the supporting walls out of a house. Over the years, as we watched the show, whatever else was happening to the characters that came and went, we always had the lives of John and Marlena unfolding before us and it was sometimes exciting, sometimes funny, sometimes frustrating, but always comforting to watch. They will be greatly missed. We'll no longer see the beautiful Deidre Hall. That is sad.
