Yes, you should absolutely have 'less serious' apps published. I have a female friend who's Chinese and she's always moaning that Nokia phones aren't 'cute enough'.
How about some frame overlays for the camera app too? Samsung have such a thing on their phones and the younger crowd (in China) love it....it'd be awesome on a 'front facing' (ie on the same side as the screen) camera, since you could take a photo of yourself with others, and be in a frame too.

Yep, you can publish less serious stuff but not as silly as Audio smileys. Fun is also important but this particular idea can be funny just for kids...
Well, the company that I work for as an independent mobile solution provider, had deployed an interesting mobile solution for telecom operators around the globe, and it's called voice emoticon service. While your Audio Smiley's playing funny sounds on each key pad pressing thru built-in phone speaker, our service plays those funny sounds during voice call with buddies. During voice conversation, you can share those funny sounds with your calling parties by pressing keypad. Why don't you guys implement that kinda feature in the device, which is sending out the sounds thru voice channel from devices while on voice call, not just shouting out the sounds in public? If anyone interested in that kinda service more, contact me :) @ rickchoi@paran.com

Throw as much and whatever you can on us! Audio smileys, Betas of websites, OS, a new font. Simply anything will do. But just be careful and particular about one thing, make the pre-requisites and the information about the testing very very clear. Where even you guys are uncertain about a few issues but still want to pamper us with the really nascent still to be developed babies, then let it be know in clear terms. We don’t mind bricking our phones as long as we know that it is one of the possible outcomes of the testing
To sum it up, release everything, just be clear about its status.

well yes, it's fun, just don't spend too much of the coding time on those :) We like to have fun but in the end we like to have very usable pocket computers :)

I think that nokia beat labs should focus on more important things like improving the Nokia Maps 3.0 for support on the N96 etc.. and improving apps and developing other apps which you will use on an every day. also here is a suggestion with the Browser on the N96 can you guys like have some sort of settings for us with a good data plan e.g. Low usage, Medium usage and high usage which display full sites? thanks you guys are greak keep it up

Absolutely, go for it. Think how sad it would be if we only had serious apps to play with...

Yes, publish it. Maybe give it a special label so one knows it's not ment to be a "real" beta release.
We like to have fun with our Nokia, not only always be working serious with it. This ads a bit to the fun factor without the need to install games or so.

Focus on core functionality only. Give third party developers enthusiastic support, let them develop applications like these.
