Of course, all of the options available will help to conserve water. I agree with the previous poster that it is more than a little strange that you can only choose one. But I suspect the point of this is to see which way is most prevalent or most perceived to save water...which brings me to the point of my post.
I just wanted to mention that as well and good as all of these options are--I don't mean to take away from their importance--their water savings are miniscule compared to the water required to produce meat: beef in particular. I am not advocating vegetarianism (I am not a vegetarian myself) but I think it is a shame that this little known though well documented fact is not emphasized by freshwater conservation efforts. Perhaps it is a sensitive issue to tell people what to eat, I understand. But truly, people should be at least aware of the impact their food choices have on the environment, and nowhere is this more evident than the water needed to put that steak on your plate! (Sorry, no number come to mind, but it is at least an order or magnitude more than other meats and two orders of magnitude greater than grains). There we go: my two cents.
Don’t use the toilet as a trash can!
Toilets are a convenient and quick way to get rid of baby wipes, tampons and plastic applicators or condoms. Out of sight, out of mind. Not so for plumbing and wastewater systems, treatment plants and our environment. Sewer use regulations prohibit discarding such items into public sewer systems.
Combined with grease and root invasion, personal care products contribute to preventing sewage from flowing through the system, cause blockages, clog sewage pumps and lead to backups. Environmental hazards can occur when sewage mixed with storm water ends up in lakes and rivers, especially after heavy rains.
Even if a product label says “flushable” or “biodegradable”, think again. Products do not disintegrate in the short amount of time spent in the wastewater stream and maintain their structure throughout the entire sewage system. Treatment plant screening process picks up some of the waste which is put into dumpsters and landfilled. Parts of solids pass through the screens and damage pumps and motors. Plastic applicators are pumped into bodies of water with the effluent and pollute our beaches. Plus sea turtles, birds, and fish cannot tell the difference between trash and their natural prey, and so they swallow anything that resembles in color or shape what they normally eat

i try to do all of these things it just not my first nature to remember to do this. I tend to forget but when i remember or think about the earth and how much we need it i always try to do all of these. Not everyone remembers to do all of these or even one of these things!! Not everyone is perfect and people may say they do all this but all in all not everyone does!!!!
this poll wasn't thought out...like the others, we do more than one option to do our part in saving water.
its a shame conserving water is a random choice.
Living off the grid in the high plains desert of AZ means hauling water for me. When you have to haul it you learn how precious it is. We use a 5 gallon container to shower and catch the grey water to use on outdoor plants. ANY way we can reduce water usage is done! We also plan on creating a water catchment system.
I agree, our family does all of the above and more! We also have a shower timer.
This poll is misleading. Why can you only pick 1 response? I do all of these things to conserve water, and I am sure most people do more than 1, also. This poll would have more value, and be more accurate, if we were allowed to pick all choices that apply.
