To paraphrase Ben Franklin 'those who would give up privacy for "security" deserve netiher'.

It's been too long since 9/11. People are becoming complacent. Besides, why would you have a problem with a camera in a public area unless you're doing something wrong?

The NYPD is in a no-win situation where this plan is concerned. If this plan is implemented, people will scream that their right to privacy is being violated. If the NYPD doesn't implement the plan and something happens, people will scream to know why more wasn't done to protect them. I am happy to trade some privacy for protection against another 9/11. I submit that people who object to this plan are probably up to no good in the streets and afraid of being caught on camera.

I'd feel much more safe if our borders were secured and the department of immigration had the necessary tools to perform accurate, timely assessments.

i work and frequent many areas in midtown.i have these same police cameras in front of my projects,on the bus,and in the subway.seems like they wanna watch every step i make.what are they saying. i'm a terrorist.they need to put them on their lifestyle instead of mine!!

That's ridiculous. Our police force is working hard enough, don't leave it to a camera. Either way, a camera would not fasten up the process of getting the police to a location. That is why we have 911.

Are you kidding? We need all the protection we can get after 9/11. Big Brother isn't watching...the TERRORISTS ARE!
