Maibock - Bavarian’s strong, golden lager, favored during the transition between the long severe winters and the hot summers. Literally “May Bock.” 14.06%

Altbier - “Old style beer.” A well balanced, bitter yet malty, clean, smooth, well-attenuated amber-colored ale. 11.98%

Schwarzbier - “Black Beer.” German dark lager beer. Milder than a classic porter or stout and good for summer drinking. 23.96%

Roggenbier - (pronounced like bloggin’ beer, not like Seth Rogen beer) — “rye beer”, actually mostly a wheat beer with the addition of rye malt that gives it a crisp, tart finish. 15.36%

Scotch Ale - Peaty, earthy and/or smoky aroma. Light copper to dark brown color, often with deep ruby highlights. 15.89%

Super Session Ale - Sit down for a serious beer drinking session ale. Light enough to drink 6-8 pints in one sitting. 18.75%

Don't we already have enough "Super Session Ales"?

BTW, 8 pints = a full gallon.

I so wanted a lambic... didn't even make the poll.... sigh

Maybe its because I just had a Maibock that was really nice, but I am leaning in that direction. Make it happen :)

@Suzanne We looked into doing a lambic or sour but in the end we wanted to brew this beer quickly (just like Twitter is a quick, almost real-time messaging service) and have it ready for a release party by May 30th. So we couldn't do the lambics or sours that would require any aging. We did notice the demand though and we'll keep in consideration for any future brews....

Would love to see a Scottish Ale, it's been too many years since you've had one. The ones you've done in the past have been fantastic, so I'm ready for another one. Thanks for the fantastic beer you produce!

Is a Super Session beer like a Bud Light or something?
Posted by Adam on April 24th 2009, 4:12pm

@adam Yes, but imagine if Bud Light were actually done well.
Posted by Odell Brewing on April 24th 2009, 7:26pm

I disagree, Bud Light cannot be done well.

Too bad it looks like super session won't make it... We need something light for the summer!

@koma Next time you're in the taproom check out Dougweiser. It's Doug Odell's answer to Budweiser. Don't let the big brewers fool you, lagers can still be done well.

Note I said Bud LIGHT cannot be done well -- "If my mother was tied up and held ransom, I might think about making a light beer." - @StoneGreg
