My vote goes to scalextric i know people go on about hornbys detail but scalextric cars now have fantastic detail to . I've been collecting now for over 25 years and have a fantastic collection from over the years with 140 plus cars . I also own hornby and as a child used to have it all set up but that is the draw back it has to be permanent , Where as with scalextric you can put it out race like mad then pack it away simple.
I'm voting Hornby (and yes I do have a scalextric digital set) on the basis there's so much more you can do with model railways, modelling the buildings, creating the scenery, weathering it all to make it really realistic.
The only downside is hornby points are prone to causing de-railments and some of their trains won't run properly on their own track, hence why Peco is becoming more and more popular as a track manufacturer in this country
They should have two walls of fame, be interesting to see how the pick compare.
hornby has to be the best with all its fine detail .with all the elements put together its just a minature world.a careless one with out promblems.its also very relaxing.
