I believe that men and women should be given the same opportunities. With that said, I truly believe that a gay man/ young adult can become prom king not queen he is after all not a woman and the word queen was meant for a woman. Regardless of how much he wants to feel like queen you cannot take the title. Run for prom king it is still a great title and doesn't make a mockery of the prom king and queen. Ohh yeah who would they dance with?, the prom king!!!! Kind of rediculous if you ask me!

I believe it was inappropiate because the title "Beauty Queen" should have been awarded to a female and not a male. I have nothing against homosexual people but I feel that, he should have won Prom king.

We tell our children to "be an individual" and yet when it comes time for them to actually heed our words, we tell them "oh wait, there's some fine print with that." It sends mixed signals and hinders a lifetime of experiences. Individual means just that. It's High School. Do you really think "Prom Queen" means anything in the real world? How many Prom Queens put that on their resumes? Exactly. Relax. It's not a big deal.

I believe that is inappropiate because its suppose to be a girls chance to shine as a senior and if someone wants to be gay thats their business but don't deny someone else a chance because you want to support open gayness

I have no problem against being gay or anything around that subject BUT, to have a Man become a Queen is just weird. It doesnt bother me in any way, its just weird...Thaz like a man using the ladies room or vise versa. Something are just meant to be left alone.
I'm almost 29yrs old I think it's fantastic that an openly gay male can be prom queen. I'm a lesbian and I went to my prom with another women if I thought of it then I would ran for prom king in my heels and all.
Kudos to him and his school for being so open-minded.
