I can't remember the last time we had a President in office that celebrated the love and dedication of his family with the public. The only thing they share at our expense til now has been the cost of their extra marital affairs. We need an example of what it means to love and cherish your family and I believe we have finally found a good one that is not over run with scandal. This is why as far as I am concerned, I hope President Obama continues to set the stage to show our off course men whether they be young or old how to treat the queens in their lives. There is no amount of money in this world that could pay for a lesson like that being taught in so many places at one time. For once let's be proactive concerning the positive.

Please stop looking at every little thing President Obama does, have we forgotten the excessive expsenses by Presidetn Bush in a time when the economy was falling apart and he was denying it. The Republican party will not even discuss the cost of Bush's numerous vacations. He deserves a date night, President Obama and his family are dealing with alot of pressure ( the economy, ungrateful Republicans, and tired voters). I find this poll stupid.

President Obama and the first lady are human and they enjoy date nights just like you and me. What is the problem with them taking time out for themselves, going on a date and enjoying each other's company. Give them a break, stay out of their personal business.

The President of the USA receives a salary like the president of any business. That salary can be used at his or her own discretion. Every personal (extraneous) expense should not be scrutinized by the public or the media as they are paid "out of pocket" and not by taxpayor dollars.

I do not begrudge the President a date night. It is important for him to keep a somewhat normal life. BUT to have the taxpayers pay for it is unconscionable. He should pay for the expense or be considered a cheep date. I would like my husband to take me to dinner in New Orleans but never considered having my neighbors and friend pay for it.

Yes, The First Couple has a right to go out and enjoy themselves they are a loving family with many supporters throughout America. No one scolded or talked about Ex-President Bush when he flew over katrina victims in New Orleans using tax dollars and wasting thousands of dollars to do nothing for his american people! next are the news reporters going to scold President Obama for the tissue that he uses at the White House.........my goodness let the man do his 8 years in office to come!!!

Not being the average couple should not stop the "First Couple" from enjoying themselves as they have in the past. Theatre goers were thrilled to attend the show along with the first couple and there wasn't one protester.

Date night for the Obamas is something that they have done prior to becoming the Leaders of this country and they should not be forced to stop living there personal life as husband and wife. President Obama covered the cost of the date so what would have been the difference if he flew any place eles for the cost of $24,000 to serve as President.

Forget the expense, it was inconsiderate to all the other theatergoers that probably were late to their shows as a result of security shut down to roads and subways(you can't cross the presidential path even over or under). He doesn't have the right as an average person to go out as he is NOT an average person. He knew what he was getting into when he chose his career, and he knew there would be limitations.
