We just launched our site just over a week ago to reunite lost Irish pets with their owners and the free pet listings are automatically tweeted via our account on approval - its a great way to get the word out quickly to a pretty relevant and engaged audience rather than having to wait for the search engines to come in and index the listing.
Twitter is a nice way of distributing interesting links and information, you find very useful information if you know where to search and how to sort it.

Again, why Twitter? Facebook does all this and more. Lot more featured.

I like the lack of "cool" functionality. The simplicity of one method of communication with other sub-methods is easy to understand and apply from the web, mobiles, etc.
I guess I just must be weird (as IF), but I was one of the few respondents who chose 'Following old friends and making new friends' (so far only 10% of the vote). I find that both surprising and disappointing. I know Twitter is great as an information source, but isn't social media, at the end of the day, supposed to be about being 'social?' Meeting and engaging people who by all accounts become real friends is by far the best part of the Twitter experience for me. Otherwise why not just Google everything and be done with it? Maybe people just have a hard time peeling back that shell; if that's the case, that's unfortunate IMO. Hopefully that will change in time.
"Fire and forget." Sending a cool link to a bunch of people on IM can be tedious and even annoying. Firing it off once on Twitter, essentially broadcasting it, makes so much more sense.
I like the way it is changing the face of social reform in all countries. Big brothers watching and he is me!
Twitter is part of my real world!! hum?
I LIKE ALL OF TWITTER!!!!!

A clear proof of the decline of civilization - we are from a book culture down to an "blurp" culture. Well done Twitteratis and Txtrs!

I love having connection between web developers.
Yeah, all the above.
Twitter landed me a job! :)
It's NOT Facebook!!! (sorry about the shouting...)
There's no BS. No stupid app invites that have no purpose. it's easy to keep up with and even someone like me that sucks at writing can do it. :)
Nothing. It's become overused and spam filled. Totally useless.
The freedom of speech!!!
All of the above really :D
Brevity

You nailed *all* the reasons I love Twitter. I can't choose between them!
