WCBD orginally signed onto the airwaves in 1954 as WUSN-TV in what was then a very remote portion of Mount Pleasant. (See the Legend of Susie Q further down for a step back in time.) In 1983 Media General purchased WCBD from the State Record Company. In the years that followed, WCBD moved from last place in the market, to a contender for first place. The station went from producing one hour of local news, to producing three and one half hours of news weekdays.

I was very supportive of you as our governor and was proud to tell others of your leadership, however, it is time to resign for the sake of your family and place them first. Please trust me as a divorcee, nothing is more important than the trust of your children.

As a co-believer in our Lord Jesus, I can't judge nor will I. I just feel that you have lost the moral authority to lead. I place your situation in the same category as others that have sinned and lost their way.

Unfortunately or fortunately for your family, you are held to a higher standard.

GOD bless you. Thank you for your service to our state and country.

He should GO TO JAIL like any other person who extorts state funds for personal use! Also, the legislators who criticize Sanford on National TV should use correct english ... "the people of South Carolina is...." IS??? It should be ARE. No wonder this state is so screwed up! The people continue to elect the least qualified candidates and are too uneducated to know the difference. I don't care that he had an affair, I care that he used state funds to do it and that he broke the law when he failed to give power to the Lt. Governor while he left the country.

Mr. Sanford has misused our tax money, has not done anything worth while for the taxpayers and citizens of South Carolina. He holds a position that should be held to the highest standards, I agree with the fact that we have had a presudent do this and remained in office, so why should the governer resign, if he where to resign, it should be for the lack of effort to help us! People make mistakes, lets face it, at least most of us are not perfect! Yes, he should have left someone in charge during his absence! I think that he needs to do his job; better then ever!! And, we need to leave it alone, and allow him and the family to heal and move on. The rest of you need to get a life, and again look at yourselfs and certainly you have made error at one point in your lifes!!!!!

It is amazing to me that all these news outlets including news 2 are reprinting and quoting from these e mails at the same time saying how much they want the Sanford family and those four young men to heal and get through this , shame on you for going after ratings and quoting these e mails online and on air , I was a child of divorce and these four young children not to mention Mrs. Sanford do not need to hear or read these things if healing is to happen in their family shame on you for pretending to care !!

WHY SHOULD HE RESIGN WHEN WE HAD A PRESIDENT DO THE SAME THING AND REMAIN IN OFFICE AND IS STILL RESPECTED - NOT BY ME. HE SHOULD HAVE LEFT SOMEONE IN CHARGE WHEN HE LEFT. THAT IS WHAT I HOLD AGAINST HIM - NOT LOOKING OUT FOR THE STATE. MAY HE AND HIS FAMILY FIND THE STRENGTH TO GET PAST THIS AND BE STRONGER FOR IT.

Gov. Sanford wanted to use the Stimulous money to pay off SC debts.
He was not thinking with his head when he expected us to pay for his trip last year to Argentina. Those of us without jobs and benefits don't feel he has done anything to help us find or create jobs. He has lost his usefulness as a role model and leader over his constituants. We certainly don't need another embarassment to our country like Clinton for President. I don't go along with the "Boys will be Boys" attitude. These politicians are men and should be roll models even if they are going through their mid-life crisis. Why is it all right for men to destroy their family? It makes me sick to see Clinton giving speeches and making money from them.

In addition to the incalculable damage he has done to his wife and children, Mr. Sanford (the fiscal conservative) misused our tax money to pursue his personal libido, misled those who trusted him and left we, the taxpayers and citizens of South Carolina, unattended while he dropped out, flew to Argentina to ...... whatever. Don't cry for him, Argentina, weep for us and Sanford's family. Please resign, Mr. Sanford. Your time to govern is over. Sheila Koenig
