this idiot turns everything into a racial issue and refuses to back down even if his ass is wrong. example: the Tawana Brawley case. bullshit backed up by bullshit. ridiculous to ruin someone's life over nothing. not everything is about race--how can we move past this "issue" if everything continues to be separated by race?

Al Sharpton is not a racist period. He is an African American that realizes whose backs our country was built upon that never recieved any due compensation. How can we sit in judgement of a man that is trying to further everyone's knowledge of where we started in this nation, where we came from-all over the world, we are all immigrants to this united States unless you are a Native American Indian, which the United States almost anihilated not too long ago. Al Sharpton reminds us that our country still is not equal amoung the opportunities that are available to certain races. He is human and makes mistakes, he may have said some things that seem racist to some people but in our hearts we must remember what era he grew up in and what racist groups that still exist and are thriving in this United States of America that we all face today. There are too many people of color that are still so far and removed from the advantages of white society. Just take a look down the street from you or in another neighborhood that you may never consider visiting or the so many parts of our cities that are abandoned and in ruins that our brothers and sisters are trying to survive and make a life for their families today. Then you will see where Reverand Al Sharpton is coming from when you think a statement he makes is "racist". Take a look at all the hate groups of people of color exist today on the internet and you will see why someone like Reverand Sharpton is a gift to our society. I am sure he has learned from many mistakes he has made like we all have but to say he is a "racist" is not true. He stands for justice and unity and equality. he puts himself on the front lines of our fights that we as Americans should be fighting. There are too few people that truly believe we are all equal and that the color of our skin is not all who we are, it is not all that defines us as humans but our skin color determines sometimes our paths in this life. People in power who have preconcieved notions and die hard beliefs about certain cultures prevent us from moving forward, prevent us from having equal opportunities and most important have access to good schools with proper educations, affordable health care, careers, opportunities to own homes and the financial support to raise a family without having to work long hours and have low paying jobs. he comes from a generation that saw his people, Black, Asian, Hispanics and Native Americans beat, tortured and killed. Over time that kind of treatment can build up a man who is willing to go out there and speak about what happened then, what continued to happen through history and is still happening today but is not focused on because no one wants to admit we are still so far from the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once had and was murdered for speaking his mind. We all make mistakes and say things that we wished we had not so remember when you judge soemone like Reverand al Sharpton that if you had his courage to speak out in pa public forum every word that you spoke would be scrutinized and many times taken out of context. If you were under a microscope I am sure that you too would have made remarks that would be considered racist or questionable at the least. So the next time you decide that someone is a racist take a look at yourself inthe mirror in the words of Michael Jackson, may he finally rest in peace.

Al sharpton is VERY much a racist TOWARDS WHITE PEOPLE.. PERIOD. He seems to think that "WE" all ( meaning WHITE AMERICANS) At this time can ONLY focus on his accusations on molestation charges... HOW else does a YOUNG child describe his "PENIS" in detail???? That aside. I myself, remember sitting waiting in anticipation of "thriller" being debuted on Mtv.. I also remember "Billy Jean" and a bunch of other videos he made and I AM WHITE.. He was very talented BUT ... MOST of the "White" people I know are NOT focusing on his past. AL SHARPTON is ASSUMING the wrong things about MOST Americans.. AL SHARPTON just believes that "we" (White people) ONLY think NEGATIVE things about black/colored/african american people.. NOT TRUE>. I post ALL three of those phrases because not all want to be called,, COLORED.. or BLACK,, or African American.. YOU (black people) seem to each want to be called something different.. You know what.> I got your answer right here.. AMERICANS.. PERIOD.. STOP the separation based on COLOR and MAYBE Al will see it too.? AL Sharpton still calls for payments for black ancestors that WERE slaves by ME???? and all the other WHITE people??? WTF>> I did NOT enslave anyone.. I would NOT condone it.. I will NOT be paying anyone for the past. STOP the GREEDIENESS. AL sharpton is the MOST backwards racist person I have ever known of. WHERE was boy "AL" when that young black man PUNCHED 4x a 104 year old white woman,, AND ITS ON SECURITY VIDEO??? Do you know what would have happened if the colors had been reversed??? WHITE man punching 104 year old black woman.. RIOTS in the streets and lots of INNOCENT people being beaten or worse.. killed for being anything but WHITE.. A AL is CONSTANTLY Calling white people racist and assuming that "WE" white people only think NEGATIVELY on anyone other than whites.. HE is racist towards anyone other than blacks.. Open your eyes people.. Stop following this INSTIGATOR, HE is starting race wars himself... WE all bleed red and breath oxygen.. PERIOD.

I don't care if he is a racist or not, but I don't think so. I am a white female reared in the South. What he had to say at the Memorial was powerful and poignant and I appreciated him. Study a little history or walk a few miles in a black man or woman's shoes for a while. Blessed be all who suffer and most especially those who suffer for another person's gain. "Black Power!!!" Power to the people!!! Power for the poor and for those who suffer. Food and water and medical care for ALL the world. The white versus black it's not irrelevant, but needs to be taken in context. If you don't study history, then forget it. It's all about PEOPLE we are all human beings and all deserve love and respect. Go AL Go!! Ease the Jackson family and their loss and love everyone. Black or white, right!!!!! And all the love in the world for Michael and his children and family. Many Hugs and much humanity. xxoo

Everyone has a right to their opinion but the comment left by Chesca is ridicuous. Everything that Al Sharpton says is racist. Maybe in his perspective he sees things as a stepping stone toward people being educated about African American history and unity. But the truth is any chance he gets to blame someone of the opposite race or make a slandering remark he takes full advantage. I do not see how he has become a public figure that people listen to let alone respect. This man is what holds back unity of all races. Just the very words of what he speaks makes people irate. How can you have peace and unity with a babbling moran talking. I am sorry this man is annoying, disrespectful and a off the charts with all of the racist comments he has made.

There are two reasons why people like Al Sharpton stir up racial discord. MONEY and POWER. The two primary corruptors in society. Take away his grasp on these and you'll find a man looking for a real job. Webster's Dictionary defines racism as "a belief that some races are by nature superior to others; discrimination based on such belief". From this definition, I don't know what Sharpton believes about a racial superiority and, therefore, cannot say whether or not he is "racist". My personal definition would make him a "racist" but, if we stick with book definitions, maybe not. A more appropriate definition for Sharpton is a "bigot". Webster defines this term as "one intolerantly devoted to his or her own prejudices or opinions". There is no doubt in my mind that Sharpton is completely intolerant of, and prejudiced against, the white man. From the vile rhetoric from his mouth I truly believe that equality is not good enough for him. I believe he wants the white/black roles from the history of slavery reversed. He wants the current white man, who has never owned a slave and has never condoned slavery, to pay a restorative price for the balance of time. Black Americans would do well to separate themselves from people like Sharpton - whose sole ambition is to stir up hatred between the races. Without the discord, Sharpton would be irrelevant, and unemployed.

you know what sickens me is everyone else in this country can stand up when they feel slighted but when blacks in this country stand up and say something was wrong then we're racist. you know i keep hearing white people say we as black people should get over it(slavery), well lets see TOM if slapped you or MIA across your face but then i left you alone you would probably bleed but your face would heal, but if lets say ever two or days or so i slapped you your face would never heal, and what if i slapped you in front of your wife or your son, what if i had my way with your wife,or worst i had my way with you TOM, i mean hay lets be factual you guys did invent homosexuality, or at least the first known cases of homosexuality were reported in white civilization, so how would you feel then what if this went for four hundred years. i know what your saying, well slavery ended in the 1800's true but the lynchings didn't so for another hundred years we were hung from trees while whites like you TOM cut off our genitals and keep them for trophies, and you brought your sons and daughters MIA and you made sandwiches , you guys made whole day out of watching a black man hung and then burned. now keep in mind this went on well into the sixties now I'm 33yrs old my mom was alive during this time my is 55yrs old think about that, this isn't some far off history like whites in this country try portray to be. how many times have ever heard anyone say jews should get over the holocaust, but if you were alive for that you would have to be well into your 70's. so how is it they hold on to what happened to them but we cant. well i'll tell you why their perpetrators were germans and our well ours were alot closer to you and your friend MIA so i guest if my heritage was linked to the longest most disgusting, vile, perverted, and utterly immoral occurrence known to man i probably would want that swept under the rug too. so how about this when gays, jews, animal lovers, asians, and TOM AND MIA give up the right to protest what they fell is wrong then we can talk, rev al sharpton is a racist?!!, the man works with all kinds of people white, black, hispanic, and asian. what rev. al sharpton is, is what white america is most afraid of and hates the most he's a mirror. he makes white america look at yourselves, and that is why you hate him so much, by the way don't vampires hate to look in mirrors too. so i say to rev. al sharpton thank you for all that you do and keep them looking in the mirror maybe one day they'll change the reflection.

In my experience, blacks are one of the most racist, bigoted groups out there--the only group of people that I've ever had trouble with. I am an asian american and I've been called just about every racial slur in the book by the blacks in the neighborhood and for what? For simply walking down the street--so yea, for no reason at all. There's such a thing as having pride for your culture, but when you start to ridicule different customs and throw out racial slurs, you've crossed the line. I know I'm generalizing, but it's hard to think otherwise when the only experiences you have are bad

hannah i do understand where you're coming from. i did grow up around Asians, however i do think you're being a little one sided you never mentioned they Asian store owner who over price their goods and then treat their black customers horribly. i mean come on how many times have you you're self been in a corner store and heard the workers switch languages so they can talk about someone in the store without them knowing, now that just rude and quite cowardly. so how about we both let the past be just that. quite frankly you sound bitter.

Go back and look at these cases in retrospect. Tawana Brawley, Duke Lacrosse, Gates Gate, Michael Jackson, Gilbert Arenas. Fat Al's early, inflammatory comments vs. what the FACTS later revealed. He's nothing but a race-baiting, attention whore who's never held a real job.
