That white evening gown looked nice and elegant but it didn't register well onstage. It actually looked like a hybrid cocktail/wedding dress and it did make look MJ short. The red Almodal would give MJ better chances to land in the Top 5….that is if that white Barazza gown had not caused MJ to be knocked out of the Top 15 yet. There were just sooo many better-looking evening gowns that preliminary competition night.

It appears like MJ is dressed to lose. That every year, our national representatives are made to wear gowns, national costumes and other clothes designed and made by an old-school foreign couturier is an assault to our sense of patriotism and decency. For one, we have a lot of world-class fashion designers who are just willing to dress our queens for free. Secondly, the foreign designer belongs to a competing country whose heart is rooting for his compatriot, not for ours. It does not take to be a fashion connoisseur to see that the designs make our queen look cheap. Thanks to her excellent projection and moves that she can still look like a million dollars in these seemingly-plucked-from-tiangge pieces. Have we not ever wondered why we are relegated to runner-up positions every year? We have excellent candidates-- pulled down by the gowns and costumes made by a competing country. Now, more than ever, the downward pull has to be intense because the other frontrunner to the crown is a Colombian.

Yes change that gown please?, Like Venezuela last year (Gabriela Isler she change her gown from her prelims to finals, even in the previous years, Ms Brazil too, (Prescila Machado) they have different gowns from preliminaries then to finals.
and if ever she change gown, change for the better and not for the worst. that Gold gown during the presentation night will be just fine..
i appreciate the beauty of the gown simple elegance/ white/ not too ornate. i know BBPCI has given Barraza a heads up as to her measurements but we do not know if she went there for a first or a second fitting just so Barraza would be able to alter that would make her look even flattering in it. it made her look short because of the shorter bodice and a big skirt thing in the lower part. i am no expert in fashion but i guess i have an eye for design and detail.

If Mj enters the top 15 and will do the swimsuit round, surely she'll move on to the top 10 BUT if she's still gonna wear that Ugly white gown for that round definitely she won't make it to the top 5!!!! Remember Venus Raj? She almost fell short during the EG portion? She made it to the top 5 becoz she carried her gown so well and her catwalk was excellent. With mj's tough competitors? Im starting to doubt it!!! Colombia, spain, jamaica, costa rica, usa will most likely make it to the top 5!!! No matter how great mj would carry that gown, it will still look cheap and a wedding gown!!! Her gown in BB finals is even way better than this white one! Come on!!!! There are lots of options! We are sick and tired of this shit!!!!! Change that gown for goodness sake!!!!!

I already have my sentiments posted in this blog so ngayon I'll just present my solution. Best EG to wear is the red almodal. If they wanted to stick sa white na color, let MJ wear that White almodal na sinuot ni ara sa shoot nila (yong poster na pinaka left si mj middle yong guy (I think he is almodal himself) and pinaka right si ara with valerie et al. ). If these are not possible then either the Red EG or the Golden EG na dinala niya will do.

There are lots of top notch Filipino Designers so why Barraza?? hello Araneta come on! you have been doing this for ages! what's the big deal behind? those gowns were way far behind.. it lacked substance and glamour and it out shadowed the candidate, out shadowed by dullness :-D. This have been my usual observation for the past miss universe pageants including the National Costume! duh! how can such colombian designer invoke Filipino beauty and culture in his designs he is not Filipino himself... even cebu local Sinulog designers of festival queens alone can top all those costumes! oh he is not Pinoy i doubt if he witnessed sinulog.. LOL. I say THAT GOWN SHOULD BE REPLACED FOR THE FINAL NIGHT.. GOWN IS CROWN INDICATOR. GOODNESS! EFFORT, BEAUTY, BODY, BRAINS ALL IN FOR MJ when it narrows to top 5.. and if they all have equal smartness in the Q&A, the best look, the queenly bearing on her gown will definitely nail it! no offense meant just so concerned for MJ and the Philippines.
The white gown made her look wide and short. The Colombian designer really made an effort make sure Colombia's gown was the better of the two. The white gown also didn't register well in camera. The red gown will register well on the screen and print. Please change to the RED GOWN. I hope Stella is listening.
Sabotahe naman! That gown is the same as the one worn by Ara last year, only it's of different color. Can we really do something about it? Does MJ have a backup gown, to start with? That glittery gown she wore in one event looks so much classier and more elegant, in my opinion. Yes, I agree that that white gown makes her look shorter. Hindi ako expert sa ganyan, pero parang kulang sa tela, at ang pangit ng fit sa katawan ni MJ. Hehe. Pero in the preliminaries' swimsuit round, I think she did very well! Wankata!

I'm alright with her white gown. My only concern is whether it will allow her to move with ease to do winning poses and catwalk during the evening gown competition. Catwalk is one of her greatest strengths. I don't think many of the ladies expected to be among the top fifteen are at par with her when it comes to posing and catwalk. But a white gown will surely make her standout assuming Venezuela, Colombia and USA will not change to white gowns in the finals. Now whether her white gown makes her look even shorter, I'm not sure how accurate this observation is. The long train seems to compensate for the illusion of shortness. It is the moment she stands with the other ladies that will make her height obvious no matter what kind of gown she wears.
I think Colombia and Spain pose the greatest threat to MJ's victory. These ladies just don't look and will never look as sweet as MJ. Caucasian women, generally, tend to look fiercer and less sweet than Asian women. Although MJ looks like a Latina, her Filipina features tame her more Western features. In the Q&A when the emcees ask her some questions - not the main question which comes from a judge - if she can be a little bit more humorous, that will work for her assuring the judges that she is confident and can handle pressure very well. That can also relax her a little bit. Whenever her name is called in the announcement of ladies for the next round, she should do some "nicety" gestures like pointing to a someone as if she knew the adoring fan and then waving to the crowd like Hillary Clinton,. That will make her connect more with audience. Gabriela Isler's showing she's "at home" on stage during last year's finals made the difference and won her the Miss Universe crown.
THE DRESS wasnt bad but we all know it wasnt the very best for her. But with all these votings and comments is there a way that we can ACTUALLY HELP MJ and make her wear a better evening gown?? coz f our voices are not heard or are being ignored, then these are all futile. This is our fight also. And MJ is giving it all her best. Can we help her??? F she is in the top 16, swimsuits wl jst go thru breezily coz tht's her strongest. But we shud remember to get through the top 5, its based on the evening gown. We all know she can deliver ( flawlessly in fact ). But with spain, usa, mexico, even thailand in the line up... just look at their dresses. U think she cn make it thru the top 5 with just her performance?? Pls let us help MJ. What is the connection between Stella and Barraza? Aside from the fact that they're both Colombian. If our representatives continue to wear the same crap every year I don't we'll ever win that crown. The franchise should go to someone Filipino by heart and by blood. Norman should start creating an online protest to remove the franchise from Stella Araneta and transfer to a Filipino Org or individual. Good Lord!

It is the same style that Ariella Arida has worn last year, its just white and last year was yellow.

if it will only be replaced by another barraza gown, which i think will forever be the case, id rather have her don that not so flattering white gown.
For most, we have a pretty good idea of the other women who may be joining her when they announce the Top 15. Her gown just doesn't compare next to some of the other top contenders. (Personally, I was blown away with Miss USA's red gown.) Miss Universe can be won by the smallest of margins. MJ can stand her own in swimsuit, and I don't see her necessarily croaking on interview. I think it'll be in the Evening Gown competition that will leave the judges with that lasting, final impression. I'm just hoping that she's got a back-up gown somewhere--perhaps from a home-grown designer, that she can don for the night, even if it risks the ire of Madame Stella.
An Action is badly needed before the coronation night, The Gown obviously needs to be replaced by the gown Mj wore during photoshoot (the Red Almodal Gown) and Fans will be happy if we see MJ wearing a better garment on finals. Don't let the white gown ruin her chances of wining the crown. PLEASE.
