Which membership/forum fee would you choose?

That is very helpful feedback, Donna! Thank you. :)

When you say "mentoring" what does that mean to you? For example, I consider my entire forum (which is free) as my personal mentoring platform. I give a ton my time, energy, my whole self on there in order to help other VAs. Of course, as with anything, it's a two-way street. VAs need to be asking questions, participating and putting themselves out there in order to receive, get the dynamic rolling and get the most out of their membership there.

Beyond that kind of informal mentoring, the next logical step would be more in-depth, one-on-one coaching. That would be much more intensive in terms of time, energy, etc. It's hard for me to imagine a membership-based site being able to provide that level of one-on-one care in that kind of platform and definitely not without charging a pretty hefty penny. And then the membership would be limited because one person can only help so many people at that level at one time.

Which brings me back to the original question: What does mentoring in your context mean to you? Knowing that would be very helpful in maybe coming up with something along the lines of what you are seeking.

    Hi Danielle,

I voted in your poll, but I have a caveat or two. Choosing to become a member depends not only on price but also on what the membership offers. It used to be that price alone was what I based my decision on, but now that I've been in business a while, price is a secondary factor. My primary factor is membership offerings. At this point in my business, I'm looking for less "canned" offerings; I'm looking for something unique.

"Canned" are memberships that cost hundreds of dollars a year and the membership offering is discounts on services, resources, etc. "Canned" are memberships that offer generic webinars, generic resources, generic directories, etc.

Unique are memberships that offer resources, seminars, services, directories, etc. that are industry specific. And, although you haven't asked, I would kill (well, maybe not kill) for a VA mentoring program/membership; one that would offer mentoring as a part of the membership fee and not as at a discount to members.
