Personally as a mom I would never subject my child to a normal school setting if he/she had Autism. The teacher actions I am not justifying, however if you know your son requires one on one attention, why allow him to be scrutinize by other children. No I dont think she should win he was hurt yes but in this society if everytime another child or children hurt his feeling and an adult dont stand up for him his mother will be ready to sue.

I'm am older man who has been in a family of educators my entire life. The actions of this teacher and school administration take my breathe away. Anyone in authority who knew of situation and did nothing to help this child and parent should be fired. Now. Teachers-if you can't handle the stress get out of the class room. Unbelieveable!!!

Mrs. Barton should win, however...I feel the money she recieves should be donated to the special care for the children with Asperger's syndrome and autism.
My niece has a son that needs special care and these children do not need a teacher like Portillo. To think they let that teacher get away with such behavior and cruelty is unreal.
To think that she got to keep her job is ridiculous, this person needs to work at Mc-Donalds, most likely they would not want her either..
