Oh dear rose tinted specs with the voting on this one. I desperately wanted a BMX, Christmas 1983 I got a Raleigh Burner !
UTTERLY UNCOOL !! I never lived it down.
Turn up at any skate park or BMX track and you'd be ribbed mercilessly by the owners of Mongoose, GT, Torker, Kuwahara (now the ET bike THAT was an Icon !). Oh dear that reminds of the Raleigh Extra Burner (in ET colours !), boy was that an uncool bike.
To put into perspective Raleigh made old fashioned and unexciting bikes at the time and BMXs were new and cool (and preferably American !). It would be like now if your friends had BMWs, Mercs and Audis and you turned up in a Rover (old fashioned, british, uncool).
When I was older I bought a GT ! (mountain bike, still love it after 10 years).

The Raleigh Burner is the most iconic of the 2 without a doubt.

The Red/Yellow MK 1 Burner that was shown and the Black/Gold MK 2 Ultra Burner are both my bikes that have been fully restored to factory spec and can be viewed on here:
