I got to the bottom of it, didn't I? If I thought it was a waste of time, I would have never seen this poll!

I LOVE these inspirational features on the site! Whether it's great photography, vintage ads, cool videos, whatever. I draw inspiration from everything I can and having a site that provides me with daily inspiration as well as excellent articles to help me keep up with my field makes this site one of my favorites.

So please keep the inspirational stuff coming, it's one of the reasons I love coming back to this site on an almost daily basis.

It is so refreshing to see something so beautiful as these photos on the web. Our world is filled with such pesimistic articles. I love to know that there really is something beautiful for us to see and appreciate. Keep it up!!!!thank you

I agree with most of the comments that have been made so far.
Although I love photography; I would make a list for inspirational photo websites every now and then.

I agree with Tony. I think a contribution such as "numeric art", photo or video, or even music is a good thing.

Please stay on topic. If I wanted to look at photography posts I could go to a photography blog.

I like to see the photos thrown in once in a while. I understand that people think it should only be about web design, but the photos are a nice break and I don't think you guys post them too often.

It would be a different story if it was happening 2 or more times a week.

    I say keep them.

Your bio says that SM is a magazine dedicated to designers and developers. I read nothing about being Web exclusive. Besides, photography is a valid design form just as any other, altough in its own way.

I'll never say no about any form of art inspiration. People often get inspiration from the oddest things, and photography is a beautiful way to get creative with just about anything.

So keep'em coming as far as I'm concerned!

I, on the other hand, like your photography posts. They're more useful than a lot of other such sites since they actually show the photos and not just links, and you folks have pretty good taste (although you succumb to the lure of overblown HDR crap too often). The B&W post is great.

I also like Lindsay's idea about showcasing sites that use photography well.

Seriously agree with the above comments. There are plenty of photography showcases online, stick to your stated purpose.

(and I think it's telling that despite the poll results, everyone who cares enough to comment feels the same way)

No.. i think that, although photography is VERY important in web design, MOST designers do not take the photos themselves, and therefore do not see the use.

ALTHOUGH something cool would be "Websites that use photography well" and list websites that are focused around photographs and less graphics

Consider the signal to noise ratio. Please stay on topic. There are endless photography inspiration blogs and sites.

I agree with Chris, SM is a Web design Magazin for me. There are hundrets of Photography Blogs ... SM is as popular as it is, cause there are mostly WD Articles ... dont try to sell everything ... it wont work.

  • Chris - 15 years ago

I chose "Definitely Not!" because I think Web design Blogs should publish mainly web design articles and "rarely" inspirational showcases, not the other way round. Look at WebDesignerDepot, 50% of their articles have nothing to do with Web design.
So I guess a few are ok, but not more than that.
