The number of articles is fine. It would be nice if there would be some short edition or some basic information and extended information in the articles. For people that are not intrested in detalis or don't have time...

Well, not perfect but very good. Quality both of content and presentation is high so 'more quality, less quantity' is a false choice unless contributors are finding it difficult to produce material at such a pace. In that case, keep quality and decrease quantity. Many pieces offer a useful collection of resources to which I return; this includes ad's from sponsors (you can tell them I said so). You post a little too frequently on Twitter for my taste.
I love all of the cool stuff you publish and follow you on twiter frequently. I like the wide variety of ideas. Some I pass by abd some I follow through!

Noo smashingmag you are amazing as you are. Keep doing what you're doing
It depends on whether you just want smashingmagazine.com to be an aggregate site linking through to tutorials etc. on other sites (lazy) or if you want it to be a source of unique content (not lazy).
First love your articles and read them frequently.
But it's a bit comical regarding the list type articles esp when they are really sprawling - "161 resources for web designers", "123 ways to be a more productive designer" etc.. Not knocking the content at all but sometimes it feels really quite daunting.
May be these articles could be better served in a searchable database and to promote it you could pull a few examples out and talk about 5 or 6 sites/resources, linking the article to a search results for similar resources.
Hmmm, more is not always better. I prefer more HQ articles instead of "just more". And yeah, sometimes the tweeting is over the top - also her less noise if preferable.

I'd like to see more articles with actual steps and examples rather than just a collection of links to other articles.

I think it's fine like it's now.
It's a lot of article, but I don't read everything (because it is not everything that fit my interests). However, I deeply appreciate the articles that fit my interests. Many of these articles are in my bookmarks and I often refer to them.
Keep up the excellent work!

Keep posting as you are currently. New technologies and techniques come out all the time. I have found that I can just read smashing and ditch a couple other blogs/feeds. For me, I have been able to filter through your artcles quickly. The current number is great! Keep it up! Thanks SM!

Definitely need more quality than quantity. Some of your long lists include garbage that makes it feel like you just ran out of stuff but needed to hit your item count.

more quality, less quantity. Find more niche and higher end design please.
I don't understand why less should be published...it's a bit like censorship isn't it; we can all choose not to read/watch/listen so where belies the problem?
If i'm interested in an article i'll take the time to read it and if not i'll ignore it. I think Smashing Magazine provides a good varied and mostly well written collection of articles.

I really think you're overdoing it., especially with twitter. Some of your articles are great and many of your tweets are vary useful. But I have noticed that in the last few months your noise to signal ratio has been diminishing.
I voted yes... They're is SO MUCH great information being presented in each article that it would be nice to have a day to take it all without the distraction of even more information. Maybe keep the # of articles the same per week but post in batches, less often?

I might not be sure about http://smashingmagizine.com/ but I'm absolutely sure about @smashingmag at twitter. You tweet a lot and unfortunately I cannot ever unfollow you because of some really great tweets you do! (I'm @smhnaji at twitter)
Thank you :)

Publish however many articles you want, just stop pumping them all through my twitter feed. You're killing it. This weekend I am installing TweetDeck simply because I am tired of not being able to see any non-smashmag tweets but still find the occasional useful article.
I think your frequency of publishing is just about right. I always search my RSS reader for your articles first. But you don't publish so often that I miss anything or don't have time to read them all. I'm in the process of creating a new site and your content has been pivotal in my new design and programming. So don't change a thing, you're the best resource I've found for meaningful web design news.
Voted yes, unfortunately some work have to be done beetween reading.

Keep pushing the high quality articles out! I think it's unrealistic to expect to be able to read all the great content that is being created these days anyway. Perhaps publish a weekly/monthly digest of articles, sorted by popularity?
I choosed "few" because the amount of text, examples, and links is so big that, for a person who works, is almost impossible to follow all of them even if you like all the topics. I think the articles are really great and full of content, but i think, 3 / week would be the best. That way we have 2 days to read, test and learn from each article. Keep rocking!
The problem here should not be limited to smashingmag only, you should study how many other resources the average readers follow!
few years ago it was easy for me to follow a ( portal, blog or any other resource ) to read, learn and gather information, and now its getting harder for me to read everything, i sometimes overlook important articles.
Information clutter? we barely have time now to read all emails, i have estimated the time i need to read all that i follow and i ended up with 90% of my online time, this off course vary from one person to another.
an idea that you can add to your list of thoughts would be personalization, while opting for newsletter a user can select the type or the category of his interests.
Or you could probably send a weekly ( depends on user selection of frequency ) and categorize it by :
1- on tutorials
2- on design standards
3- on blog
4- etc ...
after all i have been a big fan of smashingmag but the competition is increasing and other resources are taking their portion of my ( internet-read share ).
My vote went to: "No, you should publish more!". I love reading SmashingMag, and sometimes I even re-read previously read articles, so that means I want some more!
While there are a lot of articles published, you also publish articles on a wide variety of topics. I don't read all of the articles, but I do read a lot of articles on certain topics, so reducing the number of published articles would affect my readership and number of visits to the site.
Less tweets!!

You should publish more! I keep looking anxiously to my feeds waiting for the next one to appear! ^^
Personally I'm finding the content very same-y at the moment. Same subject but rehashed into another form.

And when I say "day", I mean "weekday".
Having 50+ items in one post seems a too much at times and I end up just ignoring the article altogether.
It's not that there's a lack of quality, but it's way too much info to digest for some. One really good article a day should solve the problem.
I don't understand why less should be published...it's a bit like censorship isn't it; we can all choose not to read/watch/listen so where belies the problem?

I think it's fine as it is. I don't read them all, usually only the one's I think are relevant to what I'm working on at the time.
I think it's a fantastic resource though, so if you did publish more articles I wouldn't complain ;)

Goodluck SmashingMag :-)
Publish fewer, my RSS reader scares me.
It's great !
But maybe more short articles would be great.
Keep the big as they are, but maybe insert some smaller articles between.
Anyway, Smashing rocks !! :-)
My vote went to: "No, you should publish more!". I love reading SmashingMag, and sometimes I even re-read previously read articles, so that means I want some more!

Give us time to digest the previous article, see it, test some samples, search more about the subject and then ... publish another great article :)
3 / 4 a week it's a good number!
