You should only cary a hook knife if you want to live. They can keep you from using your reserve.
Yes, I think it's worth to carry a hook knife on every jump. You never know when you have a cutaway, and a malfunction on a reserve, or a canopy collision, or two canopies out tangled......
A line over under a round was a big deal, a line over under a square is a major/life threatening deal, especially if it's your reserve and you can't clear it! A knife will. It's very cheap insurance compared to say AAD's, helmets etc. Unless you have teeth like James Bond's 'Jaws', carry one. Jumpers may want to take a hard look at Benchmade's 'Model 8' knife, it's the best made I have seen in 37 years of jumping. No thin razor blade/s held in plastic or metal, just one narrow, light piece of solid 440C metal, that they will re-sharpen for you ,if need be.
