What is the relationship between math and physics?

Math is a tool used to understand physics.

Phyisics is just a messy application of pur mathematics.

Both of the above have some validity. Also, I am a spineless blob of jelly.

Neither of the above works for me; I hate and fear math and physics equally.

I object to this poll, even though it includes the "both" and "neither" options people are always asking for.
