I would reckon its a $3 app but only where the plug ins are free else its a free app and plug ins are .49 / .99c.
However, that is in a world where this would be able to work on iphone without a jailbrake.
I think this looks top notch an that but when a new fw is release with "must have" features (lol) and its a choice between upgrading and no jailbrake or not upgrading and keeping hold of the jailbroken apps you've paid for then the foolishness of paying for JB apps becomes apparent, no?
FYI I do have 2/3 paid for JB apps but each was max .99c

Definitly woth $5. I'd pay more for it if it wasn't for the dangling sword of incompatibility with each firmware update.

It's not the the application is not _worth_ anything, the point here is that there's enormous monetization potential for the creators. Sponsored widgets, tie-ins for bands, movies, books etc that refresh with timely info would be marketing gold, as they sit resident on folks most viewed screen state, locked iPod and iPhone screens, essentially the "watchface" for most users.
The best way to assure that the monetization potential is there is to grow a massive user base with a free app offering, creating a platform for these marketers to tie into.
This isn't about how much the app costs, it's about how much the user base is worth.
I wouldnt go as far as (NOT GOING TO PAY A CENT) but i would pay 1 or 2 dollars to sart out with and pay maybe a max of .99 to 1.99 for additions but free is always nice ;)!!!!!

I'd pay on an average for an app like this $2-$4 because it would be so useful. Think about all the exposed functionality of the lock screen. I also wouldn't be to adverse to having in-app micro transactions for 1st or 3rd party widgets that really enhance functionality.
Come on guys, people gotta eat! A little funding to an ingenius solution for use goes a long way towards more innovation!

I would pay $5 and anyone that thinks the price of a MacDonald's meal is too much for a cool addition like this are the sort of cheap-skate scum the tech industry could do without!
The reason I wouldn't pay more is because this falls into my "disposable price" bracket. That's the price I apply at a "no-brainer" level where its really no big deal if it becomes un-usable or lost at some point in the future (like your MacDonald's meal once you've eaten it).
The reason I categorize it this way is because I have a legit iPhone contract. I also prefer to keep up-to-date with official Apple firmware rather than hold back to keep jailbreak ability alive. In that scenario, there is no guarantee I will be able to continue to use jailbreak apps each new OS release, hence they have to fall into the "Disposable / No Brainer" price category!

Making it Free will mean, that there will be no pirating, and huge amouts of people will try out this app, so a much wider range of things developed on this SDK will be available.
However, looking at the amount of effort spent into this SDK, i would say that you definitely want to charge for this. However, if you made a SDK, that did not compile final versions, but rather just for a simulation on the computer, and made that free, and another one, that would compile, and enables to put it on your iphone/ipod you have to buy. I would think that would attract a much bigger range of people (this will get the people who were gonna buy this anyway, and the ones who used this and liked it).

Based on the model that you're charging for the base app and then the devs are charging for their widgets, I'd say you're going to have to be on the inexpensive end of the scale ($2 to $4 USD).
Or: You charge a base $2 and a micropayment subscription of say .25ยข/month for access to the widget library.
Or: You charge for two versions. $2 for base app and you buy ala cart the widgets at the market price. Or the $8 version that comes bundled with the most popular widgets (they'd have to be good ones, not lame weather type ones).

How much it is worth to me is fairly irrelevant.
Apps that are priced at $1.99 are a no brainer - people buy them to try and if they don't use them they don't really care.
Anything above that and people have to make a concious decision that they really want the app and will use it (and, unfortunately it becomes more interwsting to pirates)
Priced at $1.99 I think most people would want this on their phone (assuming it's as good as it looks!) and a million times $1.99 is a lot more than a few thousand times $10.
Unfortunately I'll pay it in US dollars (so it gets quite expensive while converting it to Brazil reais) - that's why I votted $3. But I'll find a way to buy it even if it costs $5 ;)...
If it runs without slowing down Springboard at all, I'd say it could cost two dollars or so. If it is buggy and slow like Intelliscreen and doesn't even use MobileSubstrate, then I wouldn't pay a dollar.

It seems like an awsome app that I will definitly buy if the price is reasonable. 5 bucks or less

I think it needs to be cheap for developers. People won't want to pay for SmartScreen, then again for widgets (although I'd say most will be free). Maybe $3-5...

I'm really impressed and it looks very useful, I can't get over how apple chose to leave the lockscreen so useless, this adds a great deal of functionality. Based on the pricing scheme for widgets, if the widgets are free app price 5-10 if the widgets are being charged for, I'd say free - 5. I believe every developer should have the right to make money for their creation, where appropriate and I fully support those apps which I find to add value and function.

The idea is great, but really? I'm more likely to send it to my grandma then to get one for myself, $10.00 bucks I'll buy.

I think with the widgets demoed I would not buy it, but I can see the potential for other widgets that could be very useful! If the price includes more widgets or developers of widgets make them available for free, I'd gladly pay $5-10.
Yea, think it's worth $5 maybe a wee bit more.
but people always want stuff free:( i think you
should do a lite and full or a version for the cheap-
skates

Some people are such cheap skates. I'd happily spend at least $5 on this, some of the widgets that can be created with this could be seriously helpful :)

The fact that people do not want to pay for this is absolutely ridiculous. I can't even imagine the hours and hours of work that went in to this. I say $5, at the very minimum.
