Wow, now THAT was a helpful comment, Jen! So well-written and evocative!

    Aaaaannnnyway...

I actually LOVED Twilight itself (the book version), because I found it to be so VERY engaging, even if it wasn't Proust or Nabokov. The subsequent three books in the series were an absolute given, as far as reading to find out "what happens next" is concerned, even though I didn't enjoy them as much as book one.

In light of how much I loved "Twilight" the book, I was SO looking forward to the film version of "Twilight", and was really pretty disappointed with it. Looking at how much emotion was evident in Bella's character in the book, I found that emotion to be severely lacking in the film. All I can say is, even though I DO watch the film more often than I would've thought I would, I'm still hoping, praying, and crossing my fingers that the next movies in the series will be MUCH better than the first was. Yes, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be at each one to see it on the big screen, and I fully expect to buy a DVD copy when each is released, regardless of how bad each one is, but I'm going to remain positive in my expectations that each of the coming films will be better than "Twilight" was. I do, however, REALLY wish that they'd bump up the emotional intensity to more closely approximate what was found in the books. I don't think that doing that would make the films entirely inappropriate for younger viewers, but the parents would definitely have to make a judgment call as to whether or not to allow their younger children to see it.

My family all loves the Twilight Saga. We have three generations of fans in our home, because of the range of ages for the bunch of us ( 9 to 53) it is more difficult to have a strong opinion, however here are my thoughts on the matter. The books were advertised as young adult we didn't let the younger kids read the books but after seeing the movie we let them see it. The movie to me was very disappointing it is a love story and at no point was "I love you " ever spoken. It amazes me that it is ok to make a movie more violent but not more romantic! The next movies will be more violent but will they be more true to the love story developing? We read the books and expect to see at least a 17 yr old level not a pg movie, but since sooo many of our children are watching movies with MUCH more romantic content on a daily basis would it hurt to make a ROMANTIC adventure movie. My two 9 yr olds can wait a couple yrs to see a more adult content movie. OH Yeah they are already a year older and will be even older by the time Breaking Dawn is made. Remember your fan base is aging as your movies are being made Summit. Make the movies longer look at the fan base of Lord of the Rings, The Twilight Saga would be just as well accepted if not more. By the way there are 11 girls/women and 6 boys / men here all enjoying Stephanie's books. The books have you waiting literally to see when they kiss next BECAUSE it is so difficult for him ( by the way I think Robs face depicted that pain beautifully) It is a shame to have lost so much of the scene in the meadow and on the way to the baseball field in order to have scenes like "butte crack Santas" and little bottles! I would love to have seen the dialog after the meadow too. Leave those senseless nonsensical scenes out and put in something good and meaningful. I truly wish that a different approach had been made with the screen writing. I loved the actors for the most part, I loved the directing, I loved the story but the screen writing was so disappointing as to make me not go see New Moon because it is the same screen writer. I will probably wait for the dvd and watch it with all the family. I expected so much well MORE from Twilight as far as story content. I realize that a 500 page book is very difficult to make on a small budget with no fore knowledge of whether it will make money or not. NOW they know how much money they can make they should really step up the production or they will gradually lose fans instead of steadily gain them. As a Grandma, mom and self proclaimed fan of this Saga I hope for the best, if not we still have the books for all of us to enjoy and have had something so in common as to have brought 3 generations on the same "page" LOL

To me, the books and the movie are much deeper and intense than any tween will understand. The characters are young adults with adult feelings and emotions and should be played as such.

I know when they use a book to make a movie they leave out a lot but one thing that I would have loved to have seen in the movie is when Bella and Edward were in their meadow after she gets confirmation that he is a vampire and they are laying on the grass in the sun and she touches him. Moves his face around, touches his lips, and arms just watching how the sun glistens off. I watched the movie first and then read the book and I would of loved to have seen that. I mean they do show them in the meadow laying down looking at each other but they never touch. Look how long it took them to touch. First time was really in his bedroom when he takes her hand to dance with her and then of course the kiss later on. I just would have loved to have seen that part of their relationship develop. She asks all these questions both in the book and in the movie, but in the book he gives her full control over touching him. When she asks if it's okay he says yes, then says you have no idea how good it feels. No one ever wanted to touch him before. Well no one who wasn't another vampire. I have read the rest of the series and can't wait till see how close they keep to the books.

I think that the subtle one will be better, its not a porno vampire its a love story, plus it does make it sexier, plussss thats part of Edwards part, he cant just kiss her all the time and make love to her, did people forget thats supposed to be hard for him? plus why cant the little ones reading the books watch? its not a horror gory film, its a love story. subtle is hot, it makes the movies and the books much more interesting watching them want to kiss intstead of being all over each other, its like a fantasy in a fantasy you see? The movies are already great and the best, the only way they could get any better is make them longer, like the books, include every part in detail. it is already deep and dark in its own way, dont change the feeling of the fantasy for sex and gore.
