Do you think it was okay for them to kill the shark, even though it was well off-shore?

The dead fish was found by the Shark first, the 4 men grabbed the Shark's food and used it to catch the shark and finally they killed the shark for interest. The 4 men are sinful, they have to pray for the shark and ask Jesus to forgive them.

I think that the killing of that shark was reprehensible, and they did it just because they could. How would they feel if a pet of theirs was killed, just because it was barking at someone. After all, sharks are becoming rarer in some areas, and some species are almost past the point of no return, thanks to idiots like these "fishermen". I too, like others here, would like to know what happened to the poor beastie when they had finished clowning around and taking all the pictures they wanted - no doubt, some would be of each of them with their head in the sharks mouth - pity it WAS dead, then the boot would have been on the other foot, wouldn't it? Here in Wales, Great Britain, we go out and watch the sharks when they come past at certain times of the year, and it is a great priviledge to be able to do so. I always think that when you are out in natures territory, you should take nothing but memories (in photo form if you wish) and leave nothing but footprints.

i think thats unfair to that poor shark because its not like the shark randomly decides to kill you, i mean come on... how dumb of these men...

How long did it take for this shark to reach 750lbs? These creatures should not be hunted for sport as one this size is simply so rare. What did become of the shark after it was brought in? I have nothing against sport hunting/fishing but specimens this rare should be protected.

Like others have posted, fishing is fine. But I think it can be understood that specific circumstances should hold limit to what and where. These guys towed in a huge shark ( 18 miles!) for the sake of weighing and capturing with camera. Even if eaten, it wasn't at all a situation that required or even condoned death.

What were those 3 idiots thinking - they get a couple of photos of there feat to boast to there friends about , but by snuffing out the life of that magnificent shark it denies myself and my kids the right to see a magnificent animal in its natural habitat -its selfish and morally unacceptable .

To kill that beautiful animal just to brag about it show's how dumb and useless those men are

The only word for these guys is "Macho Morons."
A beautiful animal minding its business and doing what nature intended is killed, for what? So these clowns can brag about their manhood?
Humans have decimated the shark population by 90% in the last 20 or 30 years. Sharks serve a purpose in nature. When they are gone the ocean, and the earth, will be a less healthy place for all of us.
Extinction is a one-way street; there is no rewind and no replay.

this type of fishing if you want to call it that is unconscionable! i thought it was illegal to gaff a fish not on ahook in florida but whatever. i sure hope you did something with the shark besides act all rowdy and take pictures of it!what a waste of a beutiful animal.totally unnecesary!

once again it shows the mentallity of these 'fishermen',or as i like to say the lockeroom mentallity. i got bigger balls than you got, uhg, ugh, ugh.
most of these people can't figure out that a dead fish can't reproduce.
what do they do with it after it's weighed.throw it back to the sharks they didn't gaff?

Catching fish is fine. People have been doing it since the beginning of time. Now if the shark is endangered then it is a different story. But in general this is just fine. Nice Catch!
