How damaging would replacement referees be during the regular season?

Replacement referees in games that count would be a complete disaster

For the top teams it would have little potential effect until the playoffs. But for the bottom teams on the playoff bubble a bad call in game one of the regular season could be THE difference between postseason and an early summer vacation!
