@ Joey - please don't say such things... Personally, I never accused Danny of anything! I merely pointed out a seemingly impossible phenomenon which I thought was a glitch of the vote counting system, as I've seen something like that before.
Then that professor popped up out of nowhere with the school announcement story that got me pretty upset, as it was surely a huge unbalancing factor...
Danny himself seems honest, modest and a very nice guy!

first of all, the observation that was pointed out never said anything about cheating. It wasn't until this other person comments some sort of excuse to explain what happened. That's pretty much what got the drama rolling. From reading off what Danni writes himself, he sounds honest, so why point fingers at him? Danni has a lot of skill, so he shouldn't be disqualified for something that wasn't his fault, if anything adjust his score properly if justly needed.
secondly, was it ever said that the winner would be determined by the poll results alone? It's up to the judges to accept the polls and make their decisions.
thirdly, these sort of things, even though they say aren't popularity contests, in the end, they are... First is popularity to get people's awareness. then it's popularity of familiarity, finally the choice to be made, the winner selected as a limited edition print will be chosen in the interest of Alvin, because these are to be sold, they do need to be popular.
fourthly, the behavior... we can't go around asking "go vote for my piece". A lot of people end up being biased unintentionally simply because they want to root for a local, or whom ever they have affinity to, it does get a bit unfair when unknown greatness misses out on the spotlight because the fans are roaming over the ones that they know and feel they are part of.
example 'Tofu' can be very popular in one place, but very unpopular in another and may not sell well in that area. Target audience and strategy are then considered before making important decisions.
I feel this contest voting was a good experience for strategy :) both in behavior and in resources. I never quite understood what it meant to be popular, nor did I understand the need... I think I'm learning now what it is and what its purpose is for.

so what happened to the " cookie-based to IP-based system" scam that got danny from 10% to 36%???
He should get canned for cheating, if not this contest is a scam!!!!
