I said no to this question because the VA benefites are earned. Vets have given of their life for our country, especially those who have given 20 or 30 years in service.
But welfare as the system exists today is socialized care.
Ed Coyne is right. Including VA Benefits is unreasonable. It's more like a retirement benefit for an employee than a welfare program, and considering the considerable risk of permanent harm that our soldiers face it's a rather important one. The injuries they sustained serving us don't magically go away once they leave the military. It's would be unreasonable for the military, as an employer, to expect it's employees to face such risks *and* the risk of paying for long term medical care.

In light of the previous comments, maybe the private sector could better provide those benefits to Americans than a public institution. That would be consistent with the (astute) belief that private charities could better provide for needs assistance than the failed government institutions.

Being a country that is relitively conservation and giving. I don't consider for example VA benifits for hero who sacraficed so much on our behalf.
As for welfare, do we really need it? As of this administratin, the government is anticharity which gives us no choice but to go to them. I believe the charities such as churches can provide and do much better than the govt.
Social Security? Because the government has taken away so much, we cannot save for ourselves, wives work to keep families fiancially afloat because of high taxataion and so on.

This poll is absurd, because it includes VA benefits, something young men and women work very hard for.
