He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor.

How should games be decided?

    I for one can't stand shoot-outs. Yeah it may be swell for what I would call newer fans. I think just having it a 10 min OT with 4 on 4 would bring some fast paced team action. Still tied? End it in a tie, we'll get them next time! Plus 10 min OT will still be a shorter game then spending 10 min to prep for the shoot-out.
