I use aperture, but i'm actually surprised so little people use iPhoto, considering it comes on all Mac's and it has fairly good tools on it for basic editing.

This one is hard, because what we use to manage your catalog and edit photo often are a combination of things. I chose Lightroom as the primary method of managing catalog and basic editing but it gives a smooth transition to photoshop and return to keep the flow going.

I use ACDSee Pro for catalog and light editing and use Capture NX2 for the rest.

I'll bet that a high percentage of non-pros are using Picasa for editing and sorting. I personally use it together with Lightroom. I do my searching and organizing in Picasa, and the tagging and rating in Lightroom. The bonus is that Picasa is free.

I'm a big Aperture fan. Aperture has led this poll for the past couple of weeks and hope that gets a mention on the next show.

I'm still new to digital, so I've been using iPhoto for the past year. I hope to move to Aperture soon.

Aperture for 99% of my work flow.

  • Gerald Geist - 2 years ago

Love and use Aperture for I say about 98% of my editing. The other 2% I will round-trip to Photoshop when I need multi-layer imaging tasks.

  • Ben Jamieson - 2 years ago

95% of editing/developing is done in Aperture, with 5% round-tripping to Photoshop if I want to do anything severe to my work.

I tend to view and edit all of my photos in aperture (for the file management and Fast photo-editing) and export to Photoshop for more specific editing like serious photo restoration.

    What, no Gimp?

Hard one, but I still voted for Photoshop. I use Lightroom to catalog, set metadata, and all the typical Camera Raw settings, but having started to delve into heavily post processed images (read: HDR), Photoshop is where I normally finish images, especially for printing or putting onto my site.
