So you want a dislike button in hopes of catching a chick on the rebound?

I disagree on several counts with this argument. I notice a lack of accuracy right off the bat, with the phrase "...Facebook installed a "like" button well over a year ago..."
I know this is not the case, as I didn't get Facebook until last December, and I had been on Facebook for a while when they installed a "like" button.
Next, it is certainly possible that saying "dislike" could cause some strife... but it is unlikely. Most of those situations could be diffused by a simple "I was disliking you being tired, not disliking your boyfriend."
And honestly? Anyone who would end a friendship based off a random clicking of "dislike" probably has other issues with that friend anyway.
Conversely, a dislike button would be an excellent way to express sympathy towards a friend you don't know as well. I myself have merely typed "dislike" when a friend posted that her 2-year relationship was at an end. After she responded to my comment, I gave further sympathy, but because we didn't talk all that often then, I felt that anything more than an initial "dislike" may have been inappropriate.
Just some food for thought there.
