Do you think it's fair that Bell, Fido, Rogers and Telus lock your cell phone to prevent you from re-using it if you want to switch to a new wireless carrier?

    The prices paid to cell carriers for your phones are significantly below cost. If you paid true cost for the phone ~$800 then they shouldn't be locked.

    Similarly, when your contract term is over, the cell company has made back the costs of selling you the phone below cost, they should have a (free) service to unlock the (now paid for) phone.
