5130TR...regarding your first post...well said as usual, but I would like to add that KSM and his cronies should not get off so easy by M-16 fire. I say...let's strap them to one of those drones flying over Pakistan and Afghanistan and let them suffer the same fate as those innocent Americans aboard the planes on 9/11. Oh wait...maybe Obama should bow to the 'sheik' first...

The crime was an act of war. They should be tried in a military court on US Soil. A military court can convene in the USA. Any Federal building or installation within the 48 states will do fine. What are people afraid of? This is America, this is our country.

OMG Becca..are you for real??Why don't you try explaining those excuses to the victims families..unbelievable!!

Becca, I know you have the right to speak your mind, but if you have such incredible contempt for our military, why don't you move elsewhere? I mean, really. You are so typical of the American that is so wrought with guilt, I don't know how you manage to make it through your day. Your words are embarrasing. If you pay taxes, then aren't you tacitly supporting our military? Again, how do you make it through your day??

Do you believe that al Qaeda was justified in blowing up the Twin Towers? By your contempt of the military and the Army in particular, I can see no other interpretation of what you are saying. I can't imagine ever trying to defend your position on anything (eventhough I would do anything to protect your right to say it). I thought your type was only in make-believe, but you really do exist.

All in all, YOU are exactly why I am proud to be a Republican and a Conservative. And by the way, I don't think this asshole KSM is really a "Sheik" in the true sense of the word. He's not royalty, just a Muslim-extremeist, dou*hebag.

BTW, I am curious. Do you really hold a job and pay taxes?? I'm guessing you're either unemployed or a teacher. Am I right?

513OTR, do you think it is appropriate for the military to retain custody of the sheik and his 5 co-conspirators who committed a crime against the concept of America, foreign nationals, Americans and bankers of all sorts? It happened in NY, and the federal court is trying the case rather than the county of Manhattan or the State of New York, because of that prickly, intangible spirit of America that was damaged by this act of terroism. They did not declare war against any nation when they started a war against terrorism, but that doesn't mean much to the lands the US military is still occupying. They are still occupying at least 700 sites in countries where the Americans have no intention of adhering to the rule of law when it means adhering to treaties. The US Army has never obeyed a treaty in the history of the union, I trust a military tribunal even less than federal court. The Army always has a reasonable excuse for seizing lands, killing natives, using chemical and biological weapons and even torturing prisoners or slaughtering innocents. I would rather risk the sheik running free rather than have him endure the hospitality of our military one more day.

I wonder if this guy can even get a fair trial in this country on such a charged issue as killing so many non military or police personel, but the accused sheik and others should have thhis opportunity the same as any other criminals in the U.S.regardless of emotional wounds their crime achieved. Emotional savagery has never been classified as criminal behavior, that has always been something left to the deallings of the civil courts in this country.

Their decision to try them in federal court is not a game but an attempt at showing the rest of the world that the US is not above the standards that we hold the rest of the world to. He is not olny trying to get in touch with the "real world" but he is trying to gain back some of the respect that we lost with the Bush administration. We are not a super power just cause we say so. We need the respect, admiration, and trust of the rest of the countries we share this planet with. Clearly leaving it up to the military to try them hasn't worked out so well. Gitmo is a blackmark on this country that i think everyone would like to see taken care of and forgotten.

5130TR..I tried to add something to that, but I couldn't..you said it all..well done and to the point..

Non-citizens arrested on US soil for criminal acts should be given Constitutional rights and be tried by criminal courts. For example, if some reject from Pakistan flies over to the US, fills a car with explosives and sets it off on the streets of NY, that person (when caught) should be tried in the US Federal Courts.

Now, in the case of KSM and the other 5 perpetrators of 9/11, they were caught in a foreign country by our military. They have not been on US soil since the commission of the crimes on 9/11. They are in the custody of the US military and therefore should be tried in the US military system. I don't think there is any question about it.

Holder and Obama's decision to try them in Federal Court is some kind of high-profile game that Obama is playing with our country's security, military, courts and intelligence gathering operations. Who does Obama think he is, Oprah?? Trying to get all touchy, feely, namby-pamby. Get in touch with the real world, Barack!!

Try these guys through the military, convict them, and then take them out back behind one of the latrines on Gitmo and introduce them to the business end of an M-16.
