Democrats are driving both CA and the US to their economic knees!!!
I'm on mine praying for this potential curse to die before it kills American freedom!!!

If you all think that AOL's layoff of 2500 employees is gonna make unemployment and the recession into a depression, wait till all the agents, administrators and employees of the health insurance industry are laid off by this abomination!!!

It is disappointing and frightening that our government is trying to become this intrusive in a free economy that, overall, has been the most powerful economic engine to ever exist. It has created the highest standard of living.

The health care system does need to change. It needs a dose of competition and some changes in regulation. All costs associated with health services should be available to patients before hand. Options and costs should be discussed between patients and doctors. Insurance companies should be allowed to compete with each other across state lines. Tort reform should be enacted to help bring down liability and malpractice insurance costs for providers.

When you look at segments of the health care industry that have competition - plastic surgery, lasix, etc. - you see huge decreases in costs and increases in quality of care. The reason is because individuals are shopping and evaluating providers and, for the most part, are responsible for paying the cost.

If the above practices are applied to the rest of the health care industry we will see huge reductions in costs. We need a change in mindset. Health care is not a right. Walking into a doctor's office or hospital with little, if any thought of the financial consequences is just plain wrong.

What congress is considering will be a huge financial burden to all while leading to poorer quality and rationing of care.

As a working Senior Citizen I do not want this sort of health care reform. Do what can be done NOW--besides take money to support a 10 year plan. Tax now--Take Later and by the end of 10 years a new deal will be in the mix. Forget it! The bill should be no more than 10 pages long, should improve the life of everyone and be in plain English. NO TO ALL THE DERAILED, CRAM DOWN OUR THROAT NEW LEGISLATION. (THAT MEANS PERIOD).
