A blog about English Premiership side Arsenal coached by Arsene Wenger. Objective analysis of matches, news from the press, views, player ratings and videos on the likes of Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, English striker Theo Walcott and the Mexican wonder Carlos Vela.
When we had a physically tall team we won the league, not once but 3 times.
Wenger has almost ignored our defence over the last 5 or so seasons and quite honestly this is not good enough. I know we come close once but in my opinion we have not had a team cabable of wining the league since 2004. Wenger's unwillingness to replace key players as and when they either were too old or were sold has meant that we have gone from Invinceable to light weight.
Adams, Lehman,Keown, cambell, Viera, Petit, Gilberto, Henry, Pires, Bergkamp.
They all left at different times. If World Class replacements had been bought at same time as these greats left we would still have a great team and more than likely one the league at least once more. Replacing one player at a time is much easier and in the big scheme of things not out of our price range.
Needing to buy 3 to 4 world class players which is what most people seem to think at the moment is for us, not possible due to financial restrictions. Having said all that its a bit late now. So where do you start well we have to defend better than over the last 5 years. Our biggest problem at the back is failure to deal with balls played into our box, either from deep a la Wigan or from wide, Chelsea.
A taller team (In all areas of the park ) would be a good start. Drogba made 2/3 good clearances from their box with his head yesterday. Our lack of a world class keeper is starting to show. We need to take some of the pressure off of our defenders airally speaking ( I know airally isn't a real word) and a big Peta Cech type would make a big difference. As much as I love to watch the likes of fabregas, Arshavin,Vela,Eduardo, Nasri in full flow the rest of the squad isn't tall enough to look after itself. We need a big, strong quick centre forward who one scares the sh^t out of defenders and too can help defend corners and free kicks. Being more of a goal threat up front would also cause teams like Chavski have to think more about what we might do to them rather than the other way around. Then we will probably need to look at midfield , but that 'll do for now.
onwards and upwards

this man is sturbon like a donkey,he must buys quality and experience.
there is no substitution for experience ,if hes really serious about wining any silver way. or else kiss the league good bye.where are the martin keons and sol campell and the ian wright and dennis bergkamp? iam so sick about this club.they dont treat us fairly as supporters. we dont have the teeth to bite.
clubs know that if you play arsenal you must kick them hard, they dont cope.
i miss the ray poulars and vieras.those days teams used to know that if you playing dirty against arsenal you were not going to win the battle.

Same Old Arsenal!! I am not convience by that from! especially when it comes from the same old Howard!
But I have to admit that with Almunia we not will anything he is not a match winner:
First goal: a cross comes from the right not authority in his box; we can still blame gallas and vermaelen for not being close enough but who is the eyes for the center back especially in the fox box????
Second goal: identical situation and apparently Almunia still rely too much on his defender; this time the area his covered by the defenders but where is Almunia???
Third goal: great free kick but poor goalkeeping again
my conclusion is if wenger is not looking to buy a decent goalkeeper with a mouth and little bit of authority at least develop our youngster because in my eyes mannone and the other blok are not too far from him
Wenger called the first strike lucky but if you want to be lucky at least make thing happen this just what Drogba did ... he did not hit the ball clearly but the position he was and with speed of the ball you do not need the clear the ball clearly...
Arshavin goal... fault... yes or no ???? NO he did not touch he get the ball and we can see that by the reactions of the Chesea side but since our striker have not netted???since RVP get injured.FACTS.
