I just love her, she is Great. What a surprise.

  • Penny - 14 years ago

I pre-ordered her CD from Amazon and I think I am wearing it out already! She is awesome! YOU GO GIRL! I can't wait for the documentary on her Sunday evening and hope she has another CD out soon! For all the people that laughed and sneered - whose laughing now! Don't ever stop singing Susan you bring inspiration to all!

What does her backgroud and achievements have to do with anything? I listen to music to be entertained. If it doesn't entertain me - I turn it off. I don't care about her life and accomplishments. When I pay for a CD I expect to be entertained. That's what I pay for.

  • Becky - 14 years ago

I preordered one for myself and loved it, so bought another to give to a friend. As I get more money, I'll be buying for other folks for Christmas presents. Not everyone will enjoy the album - it's quiet and reflective, and that's just not what some people want. For those who are willing to step back & relax, it's just marvelous.

I wonder, though, if Susan Boyle's story doesn't resonate as strongly with the young as with those who've been out in the world a while. I suspect that many of the cynical comments come from people who simply don't have the maturity to appreciate her incredible accomplishment - overcoming a lifetime of fear and insecurity to step forward and declare, "I can." Every CD of hers I purchase now and in the future (and may there be many more) will be an affirmation that I understand and honor her for her courage.

  • Libby - 14 years ago

I wouldn't buy one for my dog. She sounds like s***

  • Rose of England - 14 years ago

Yes, I pre-ordered two on Amazon as soon as it became available, then some more for a relative. I love it, play it constantly and will buy anything she produces. Some of us simply CONNECT with Susan, others don't. I shouldn't think she is too worried about the latter as she is soaring above everyone else both sides of the pond and in many other parts of the world. And this is a lady who has been a recording artist for only 6 months - her very first album. What an incredible achievement!!

  • JudyBG - 14 years ago

One of the most tiresome things I know of is people who insist on being cynical. Oh sure--Simon Cowell is single-handedly manipulating the numbers at Amazon and Billboard. Uh-huh.

PLENTY of people are buying the CD--it's not some trick by Simon Cowell! I bought one, then gave it away to someone I thought needed cheering up, as she has cancer. She has been listening to it non-stop--adores it!--and now I will order another. Mine is not the only story like it. Lots of multiple copy orders. I know a couple who ordered one for him and one for her because the wife wanted her very own, no sharing!

Susan has an incredible voice--utterly unique. And her interpretations are subtle and exquisite. There is a bit too much schmaltz in the strings at times, at least by my standards, and I do not like the "religious" songs as much as the others--and I speak as a person of the cloth--because there is too much of an overwhelming choir feel. I don't think this really highlights her very special voice and way of interpreting songs. Her gift is for more intimate singing. (Also, if she did have to sing religious songs, why pick three such done-to-death ones as "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace" and "Silent Night"? I would have liked to hear her do "Shall We Gather at the River", "Come my Way, My Truth, My Life" or "Lord of the Dance" or something else--maybe "Day By Day"--that would do justice to her haunting voice and individual intonation. And I would defintely kill the chorus! The vocal backup works OK on some of the other songs, but as soon as she sounds as if she is the lead singer in a church choir, it doesn't work, because, dare I say it, there are better choir singers! I have no doubt that our lead soprano here at my church, who has a pure, soaring, trained voice, would defeat Susan in any head-to-head competion. I don't care how many years Susan sang in church: it's not her true gift. Don't get me wrong--she is very good, but this is not where she is GREAT.)

But her greatness is there on at least half the songs, which is astounding enough--and they could ALL be great, with better choices and a bit less drippiness on some of the strings.

    susan boyle sucks

  • Sally - 14 years ago

I bought it and I'm waiting for the next one to come out. What a wonderful Cinderalla story. I wish her all the best. Her voice is so angelic!!! I hope she has a very happy success life with her new singing career and new life.

  • Pat - 14 years ago

Susan Boyle's voice is truly angelic. Probably the best singer I have heard since Barbara Streisand, maybe better. Certainly her range is greater. It is hard to believe she remained undiscovered all these years, depriving listeners of one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Good work Simon.

  • tabatha - 14 years ago

Simon doesn't like to be proved he's a failure. Someone has been playing with the numbers. There aren't that many reviews on Amazon and she's suppose to be Amazons number one seller. I read Susans team had to practically beg people to watch her perform on The Today Show in NYC.

  • tabatha - 14 years ago

Simon doesn't like to be proved he's a failure. Someone's been playing with the numbers. She has fans but not that many. Not that many reviews on Amazon and she's suppose to be Amazons number one seller. In this very multi cultural world where there is a wide range of diverse music I can't see how an average white woman who sings boring white songs can be that popular. I heard they had to practically beg people to watch her perform on the Today Show in NYC.

  • Shane - 14 years ago

Hey check out the People's Choice Awards if you want to get a good look at her and a good laugh.

  • Marlboro - 14 years ago

Yeah I saw her on the Billboard and said what the hell is that. Never heard of her man.

  • sissy - 14 years ago

I've heard of her but haven't seen a CD from her. When did it come out? If she's not Rock I'm not interested.

  • Lilarose - 14 years ago

I pre-ordered Susan Boyle's CD and my friend and I listened to it as we drove on a beautiful sunny winter's day along the curving South Oregon Coast. Not a word was exchanged between us for the entire CD. It comes with the words if you care to sing along; Susan also adds notes as to why she chose a particular song. What a sweet voice this woman has, and I look forward to buying more of her CD's down the line. Someone mentioned her "attitude," and I have no clue what they mean by that.

  • BCisme - 14 years ago

I bought my copy the first day it was available. Absolutely brilliant album!!

  • Mary Ellen - 14 years ago

haven't heard of her does she sing country?

  • Shane - 14 years ago

Nope dont know anyone who is running out to buy one either. Havent even seen it advertised in any flyers here. Maybe I dont live in Susan Boyle country which is fine with me.

  • skywriter - 14 years ago

Honestly, yes. A dozen of them. The people who got them from me have bought more for themselves.
You might want to broaden your circle of friends.

  • Vian - 14 years ago

Yes I did, and it was the first time ever that I truly await a CD release…. Downloading was not an option for this one! And by the way, it was sold out when I first asked for it at one of the biggest Virgin Music Stores in Dubai, UAE.

  • rocky - 14 years ago

I didn't buy it and I don't know anyone else who did either. I think Simon and his pals bought a mess of them but he ain't sayin. Who else could tolerate that boring woman for more than 5 minutes?

  • Stuart - 14 years ago

When I first heard her on the radio whilst at work, one of my work mates asked me who it was singing. " I dunno" I replied, "sounds a bit like Barbara Striesand or maybe Joan biaz" I replied. I was gobsmacked when they announced it was Susan Boyle! I realized what a compliment that was to her, to be compared to two icons of the music business!! After hearing more of her over the weeks, I decided I had to buy the CD, and I think it is Terrific! Looking forward to more of her releases, and maybe some tunes written especially for her.

  • Karen - 14 years ago

  • Chloe D - 14 years ago

I normally like music that's not particularly mainstream but Susan certainly is the exception. I just love Susan's voice. It makes me happy and hopeful and emotionally moved. Can't wait already for her next CD!

  • a - 14 years ago

Bought it! Love that Lady GaGa, but no one beats Ms. Boyle!

  • LORRAINE STANG - 14 years ago

I love Susan's CD, my husband bought it for me as a gift and I listen to it every day. My husband even liked it and then bought a second CD of hers for his Mom's Christmas present. I hope Susan brings out another CD. I love all her songs on the CD. Well done Susan

  • Cindy - 14 years ago

That is it is the first time I've bought multiple copies of the same album to give as presents.

  • Cindy - 14 years ago

I got a copy as a present. I was so impressed, for the first time ever I bought multiple copies to give people in my family this year for Christmas. With confidence I bought it knowing that my grandmother (who is 98), My mother (who is 70) and my sister (in her 40's) would all love it.

My neice who is in her 20's wants one because she teaches dance and thinks the music would be great for their recital in the spring.

  • Katie - 14 years ago

I love to hear Susan sing! I will definitely get her CD for all my friends and family for Christmas present.

  • Perus - 14 years ago

I bought it and bought two more for gifts to a couple of friends who also love her.
Her voice is clear, powerful and filled with emotion. She is a breath of fresh air from the plastic, overdone screamers we have been stuck with as entertainment. She is an exceptional talent, but she remains who she is and I for one, appreciate that.

  • Norma - 14 years ago

Sorry for the misspell. I meant BRAVO Susan

  • Norma - 14 years ago

I just listened to I dreamed a dream and found it to be THE BEST cd I have listened to. I like a lot of different music and have favorites. But not every song on my favorites cd's are great. Every song on Susan Boyles cd was great, had so much emotion and many brought me to tears (and that's hard to do ) BRAVE Susan

  • Marianne - 14 years ago

I didn't even know she had made one. I just heard about it this morning, and I'm shocked, not that she doesnt have the voice, or that some record company would not scoop her up, but because I really thought this whole thing since the youtube thing was just a test. I can't even imagine that she could sing anything besides I dreamed a dream, which, by the way I found fantastic, but I'm not crazy about her attutude, so don't think I'll be running to the store to support her music. Sorry.

  • Kathy - 14 years ago

I sure did buy it, and I love it. Her voice is beautiful.
The best ten bucks I ever spent.

  • Andy Wilomot - 14 years ago

Even though Alice Cooper is my favourite pop star , I do enjoy my Susan Boyle CD , it is very relaxing .......... Reapetitive throbing music bores me .

  • NSK - 14 years ago

Yes-yes-yes! And I just bought another one as a Christmas gift for a friend. Susan has the talent and the fun personality. Her vocal emotions run deep and it shows in this CD.

I love the timbre of her voice and how she can control the upper register. Her interpretation of "Wild Horses" is the best! "Cry Me A River" is unsurpassed as well.

This is the only "pop" album that I have purchased in years and after hearing "I Dreamed A Dream", I couldn't wait for Susan's CD to be released.

Susan's album is a breath of fresh air that I love to breathe.

Keep 'em coming, Susan. How about "Fly Me To The Moon" for the next album since I'm sure that is where you are right now!

  • Sue - 14 years ago

Yes, I bought it, and I am so pleased I did. It is nice pleasant listening. Close your eyes, turn off the lights and listen to it. Some of the songs are quite haunting, and although I had never heard them or heard of them before, I find myself singing the words. Susan has put her own touch on these songs. I am so glad that her talent was discovered and the world had a chance to hear her. How could she not have been found sooner. All those years and all that beautiful singing we could have listened to over the years, and world, our world would have been a better place for it!

  • Nancy - 14 years ago

It was my birthday present and I love it. Not everyone loves Adam Lambert and his antics, or Britney Spears, etc. We have been waiting a long time for some easy listening, with lyrics we can understand and vocals that are beautiful. There must be a lot of people out there who are like me, because the album is soaring!
