Yes because it is an industry with a lack of heterosexual male supervision, and thus what hetero men like is often left to the side. Much like magazines such as Cosmo, there is a lack of hetero-male voices which leads to confusion.
The fashion industry has not damaged the relationships between men and women as it is a commercial industry and supplies what is demanded. Women make the decision to support the industry by buying the merchandise.
If this question is inferring that the 'unrealistic' portrals of fashion models is affecting women's self esteem, well maybe this is the case, however what do men have to do with this?
Nothing.
Men in the vast majority, do not apprechiate emaciated, skinny women and have no influence on women's fashion. If women blame men for the lack of adipose tissue of models, they should start looking in the mirror.
If women do not want skinny cat walk models they should vote with their purses, by not doing to is only aiding and abetting their continued usage.
I notice that so many of the models look rather androgynous, like adolescent boys with little or no breasts and lacking an hourglass figure. Many fashion designers are gay men and this may the reason why fashion models look the way they do, due to their own preference.
Have a look at what men find attractive: Playboy, FHM, Maxim magazines etc and you will get an idea what the majority of men find attractive and what men find attractive, is, what men find attractive, we have no choice in the matter (as women do not either), it is biological. Now, some men like women who are thinner, some voluptous, but pretty much all red blooded men like a woman who is feminine and with an hourglass figure.
Women buy women's magazines, half the pages are pictures of beautiful women, they are not the norm and are choosen for their asthetic apeal. If women's self esteem is being affected by this, stop buying those magazines.
Everyone, even men can get down about how they look. However women don't want to hear us men complaining, (you know it's true) as women find men complaining (lamenting about our low self esteem) unattractive, possibly more than the beer gut of the complainer, so we gotta suck it up (pun intended) and/or do something about it or we are gonna find ourselves at the computer, looking up naked (yet healthy hourglass figured) women to er....now where's that box of tissues?
So suck it up ladies and/or do something about it!

Oh, and anyone who votes yes, I could like to hear your justification.
Thanks.
