We collect too much money for the CPA funds, most towns do not collect millions of dollars! And our property tax rates are increasing again by more than 5%...

Sorry to inform you the precedent has been set. Town Meeting approved a taxpayer subsidy of the Muzzey Condominums a couple of years ago.

    Another dawn:

"Smart corruption" is kind of harsh, don't you think? I prefer "insider politics."

No Way! This is an example of "smart corruption." If the people living there weren't "connected" this would never have been proposed, and should never have been proposed. No one except the people who live there will benefit. It does not benefit the community in any way. If they can't afford to fix it, tear it down, turn it into a parking lot, and then bring some businesses other than banks into town. We need more restaurants!

Sure to be a lawsuit if this happens!!!! What a disgrace..

The Historic District Commission did not approve asphalt roof. Owners have no other choice but to pay 402,000 for a rubber roof. No public money needed to maintain historic look.

If the building is historic, we should not let the condo owners to alter its appearance. If it is not historic, it should not be even eligible for CPA funds.
The owners already got a tax credit after the fire. The Lexington bylaws were changed just for them.
We are wasting CPA money a big way. We bought the Busa farm without insisting that owners clean it up from pesticide for unrestricted use as was promised to the Town meeting. Any private developer would lower the price if it was a contamination. http://lexopengov.com/Documents/Busa_Risk_Opinion_letter_12-1-09.pdf

Not unless we can use CPA funds to fix my roof, too! This would just be a transfer of funds from the public to the private condo owners. Makes no sense at all.

Next time we need to choose our Selectmen more carefully. :)
