Hi, I recently purchased a Bushnell 4200 6-24x50. I had looked at one a year ago and it looked nice, having large tactical knobs in addition to nice white numbers and hash marks. Will a week ago I purchased it. When I opened the box I was a little suprised to see OD Green numbers and hash marks in addition to the focus knob being smaller, at least that's what I remembered, but I might be wrong. A friend of mine also has purchased a 4200. When we compared the two, I noticed that mine got a little dusty @ 24 powder his didn't. All in all, it was a great scope. Dave's 4200 also came with a small focus knob, but it had white numbers and hash marks.
I called Bushnell and spoke with a technician. I asked him if there was a code on the box that would ID between OD Green & White number and hash marks. The Technician told me they ran both white & OD Green stating, I would have to go back to the store and open all the boxes to see if I could find one with white numbers. I contacted the store and told them what the Tech had stated. They told me no way would they open all the boxes, just return it for a refund. Second, I asked the tech if he could tell me the inch pound specs to the 4200. He asked me, what kind of rings did I have to/wit I told him Burris. The technician directed me to call BURRIS and ask them because he didn't have that information. There was more said but I wount get into that.
Being a 30 years plus Bushnell man, I decided it was time for change so I went with a Sightron 8-32x56mm with 1.0 Target Dot. I liked the idea of the 0.5 Target Dot but no one had any in stock. I had called Sightron and they were very nice, answering all of my question, I didn't feel rushed or disrespected. I wished the dot lit up in addition to having 1/8 clicks and large Tactical focus knobs.
Reason being, I hunt Coyotes, sometimes in very cold weather. This is where large knobs come in handy especially the focus knob. Having to wear gloves, a larger knob is easier to control with gloves on. It would be a good idea to be able to inter change from large to small knobs. Guys that target shoot in warm weather dont need large knobs, in cold weather there great. A budy of mine let me use his MILLET 6-25x56. The knobs were a little weak in design, but were of the right size, Beef them up a little and they would be great. I had no problem working the focus knob with heavy gloves on. It's hard to please everyone, but I think this would be another great idea having the option to change out knobs. This would give the scope an advanatage of being user friendly in cold weather.
It all boils down to what your going to use the scope for, I look at the Tactical knobs design in addition to quality. I don't know if it would be cost effective seeing that were a small percentage looking for larger or interchangeable tactical knobs. Will all in all this will be my first Sightron, and hearing all the good reports on the net, I feel good getting the scope. I will be picking it up tomorrow. I noway could afford a scope in the $1000.00 range. I'm pushing the envelope now. I wanted to stay in the $ 600.00 range, but looking at the SIII 8-32x56mm, my wife said I was like a kid in a candy store reading all the articles on the net.

Please consider something similar to a wide duplex. I like fine crosshairs, but I don't like to have to hunt around to find them.
