You want someone who knows music and what's good and is honest so I'd pick the great and incredible Chrissie Hynde. She probably wouldn't do it because she not a commercial personality, but she like Simon can be extremely frank in her comments and she does have the British connection as well. If my memory is correct she was raised here but born there. If I had to pick a guy what about Robert Plant, or The Who's Roger Daltrey though I'd rather Plant since after his album with Allison Krauss he's more rounded musically and English not to mention a rock god.

Ricky Gervais....would be awesome...clever, funny, and not yet over-exposed on this side of the pond.
My write-in would have to be Justin Timberlake, hands down! Not only would he be more than qualified to judge a music competition, but he'd be a great personality to have on the show... He was an awesome host for the ESPYs, he's had countless appearances on Saturday Night Live, he was named The Sundance Kid of '07 and the list goes on... What more could Idol ask for?

I think David Foster would be fabulous. He is the best in the business at spotting talent...he says it like it is... and he likes to be on camera!

How about Billy Joel?? In any case, I think it should be another male, and someone really well-known (like Simon), and who has a lot of musical knowledge. I think that's the only way the show will keep it's popularity--by having someone credible who everyone knows. That would keep it exciting. I think they chose Ellen, for instance, because everyone already knows her.

I like Matthew Knowles or Elton John. Knowles is well-versed in entertainment and how the business works.
I agree with zim, JC Chasez would be an excellent choice!

Hands down, it should be Gene Simmons. Music & Showbiz background, unafraid to say anything, would make for great TV when contrasted with Kara & Ellen (slightly male chauvanistic). Fairly witty as well. Might be a bit too nice.
JC Chasez is one of the best and most articulate talent judges on TV, and sicne he's on Randy's show (ABDC) it only make sense.

My first choice would be Kevin O'Leary from Shark Tank. He tells it like it is. Just like Simon. He's the nasty one. He's great. Next Daymond John then Kevin Harrington then Robert Herjavec and last Barbara Corcoran. My list was mean to not so mean. This show is great but I do love it because of Kevin O'Leary.
My write in is... Elvis Costello. If you watch his TV show Spectacle, you'd realize that he knows a lot about music and, as many know, he is quite good at singing in a variety of genres

Gilbert Gottfried would be annoying enough.....

Howard Stern. He's definitely opinionated and is not afraid of being rude. He has been a fan of show and is a lot funnier than Simon or Ellen for that matter. And then get rid of Randy and give it to Eric the Midget. Sorry the actor.

My write in vote would be Hugh Laurie: Re: House--He can deliver a slam with just a look, like Simon, can sound Brit or not at will:
